I'm thinking along the lines of Diesel XJ and SuperDawg. I'm getting encouraging words to build the XJ from friends I trust... SuperDawg I've wanted for years and years... I just want him done so I can drive him... but since this project started my commute got radically worse. 18mpg in Superdawg would be fine for a 15 miles commute, but my commute has doubled... and fuel prices have escalated... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Mar 2005 22:03:57 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Re: RE: RE: Re: [FSJ-List] More engine issues....:-( help please A: Mechanical on the V8s and partially electronic on the 6 cyls after '80 with the BBC compu-carb. Is it computerized advance, or mechanical by weights? Wish I could say the same for SuperDawg, he wouldn't have had these problems. As far as the projects going... I tried to get the trailer up out of the backyard when I got home tonight... rofl... now the Jimmy AND the trailer are in the back yard... my friend is coming back tomorrow with an IH to extract the trailer so I can do the test with the '79 300SD. :) I'm thinking that the 4.0L J10 and the Diesel powered yet to be found XJ will be my rigs... Would be cool if I could keep the 124 as well, but we'll see... maybe I'll find a winning lottery ticket or something. ;) (I don't buy them so I'll have to find it. ;) My economics prof basically pointed out that the lottery is a tax for those that can't do the math. :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 02:06:48 -0500 (EST) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: eBay item 4536834735 (Ends Mar-28-05 12:45:42 PST) - Jeep : Other Models you know I think I'v seen this truck before... in Reno... That issue is fixed but now this? Could the travel on the pump be off? Looking for some easy things to check if i cant figure it out i might just take it to a shop and let them deal with it. If possible i prefer to do it myself just because i enjoy it and it never hurts to know how to fix your own vehicle. John, I thought I was bad, for leaving stuff ripped up for way to long. On the J-10 sounds like the time has passed where it is practical in your life. If you can afford toys on the side, finish it with the 4.0 or stroke the 4.0 and put the darn thing back together, otherwise eat your loss sell it as a kit and move on. As far as you other thoughts if you want a oil burner SUV, go find a 6.5 Chev/GMC SUV and buy it, I find swapping motors and playing in the shop is fun, but I have never found an engine swap to be a practical economical thing to do, fun yes, $ wise a loser. Let me know when the supper kit comes on the market. Mike D. But in general, I am skeptical. That stuff made my Comanche get it's best mileage ever! I had 6,000lbs gross weight with a 4 cyl 5 speed and cruised to Ouray at 60-75 mph and averaged 20-25 mpg. I never got that much when empty before! ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2392 **************************
