(needle and seat in mine went south last summer during a drive to work. Wouldn't idle and my gas mileage dropped to 10 mpg cruising to Poulsbo and back) Bad gas? (WA state just got a bad batch delivered to most of the independent stations that was loaded with a poly fiber liquid. The description sounded to me like what you get when a styrofoam coffee cup is inserted in the gas tank!) Blown power valve, bad brake booster, vacuum leaks of course and 1 I haven't seen mentioned too often. Bent pushrods. (was there any lifter clacking before it happened?) Also wiped out cam, but that usually comes with backfire. (depends which lobe. Intake = no backfire, but lots of shuddering. Exhaust = shudder and backfire when revved) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 May 2005 14:10:23 -0700 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: Re: fsj: Sick Wag - rough idle, dies Something else I forgot to mention. I add a filter before the fuel pump because any tank crud will jam in the intake valve of the fuel pump and ruin it in short order. I have the seethru one in my J4000 (good thing I did because I put some gas from the Bronco I parted and the filter clogged up FAST!) Takes me 5 minutes to change, even on the side of the freeway. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 May 2005 21:08:45 -0700 From: john meister Subject: fsj: Re: Jeep Commander is the commander going to retain live axles in the front like the WJ or are they going "non-Jeep" like the WK and KJ? john Jim Blair wrote: > From: "Jay Janness" > Subject: Re: Re: Re: Jeep Commander > > actually the Commander is based on the Grand Cherokee platform. Not excited about flying down, but hey, at least the airplane is airconditioned. ;) better get to work, have to write a book for the class... later, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 May 2005 01:04:12 -0700 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Re: Jeep Commander http://www.grubbsauto.com/index.html?/jeep/commander says it's 2" longer than the Grand Cherokee and the first to have 7 passenger seating (which is wrong! The M715 troop carrier had more! ) http://www.sexbuzz.com/motors/2,0007,00.shtml talks about the Commander 2 which will be a fuel cell/hybrid drive system. http://www.jeep.com/autoshow/news/commander_overview.html says the front end is IFS. (RIP my interest in this vehicle) Now this: http://www.jeep.com/autoshow/news/gladiator.html except for the color, is more my cup of tea. http://www.wjjeeps.com/concept/commander.htm has more about the Commander 2 Here's the rest you can read for yourselves (Autoblog rips it a new one!) http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=jeep+commander ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 May 2005 14:49:36 -0400 (EDT) From: john Subject: fsj: veggie tales check this in tank heater setup: http://www.plantdrive.com/page0/12/12.html also, harbor freight has a 1" clear water pump, 330 gal/hr, 1/2hp motor on sale for $23.99. Visibility isn't quite as good, but better than I expected, and I have to dodge all sorts of obstructions instead of centering them, but the mileage and handling rock! Even has a nice three-body trunk. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down. - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2446 **************************
