We're back from Vegas... almost didn't make it... wife had serious problems with her blood pressure and was hospitalized, almost wasn't able to fly home yesterday!!! The weather was terrible in Vegas, sunny and 90. ;) Happy to be back home, rain, green, clouds, 60's, did I mention the green? Also so happy to be back to drive our Jeeps and Diesel Benz! The rental car wasn't bad, but we were so happy to be sitting in that Cherokee when we got back. :) BTW, wagoneers.com/JohnMeister.com is still off line, something went sideways with the network connection in Boston, not sure how much longer it'll be... kind of nice not having to check email all the time. ;) of course you can still reach me at dieseljohn-at-comcast.net. john ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2005 09:08:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Brad Seevers Subject: fsj: Brad finds his coolent leak I yanked the starter this moringing, and to my relief the 1.5" freeze plug behind it is leaking in about 3 places with pinhole seeps! This should be an easy fix (much easier than yankin the head for a bad head gasket!). I'm off to the parts store to see if they are open yet! I suspect if one plug is bad, others may be close. I'm not going to replace them all, but I will be keeping an eye on them. - -brad - --- Brad Seevers wrote: >> I wish it was! Much easier to get the ones on the back of the motor while it's away from the trans! I use an old extension or large brass driver to knock in one side (careful not to knock it waaay inside!) and grab it with vise grips to get it out. I use a socket that fits tightly into the center of the new plug to start it in (I put mine in dry and haven't had any leaks in 20+ years, but there's always a first time!) Mopar vacuum line. ;) I came back from Vegas last night, hopped in my trusty Benz to head off to Church and as I backed out I noticed a large puddle in the carport with a trail following me into the driveway... popped the hood and saw a bubbling mixture coming forth from the base of the injector... knew right away from the swelled black line what was up, left the hood up and the benz in the middle of the drive, hopped in the wife's WJ and came back later and replaced the lines. Looks like I used 1/4 tank in 53 miles... that's about 5 mpg, sheesh, almost as good of gas mileage as a full size jeep... ;) wagoneers.com/JohnMeister.com still off line, so I'll be out of touch until I get home, can't check my comcast email from work... still don't have my treo 650 configured to check email yet... working on that right now... john ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 09:26:10 -0700 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Fwd: everything must go Neal's zip is 40223 > Confused? OH, wait a minute, i also have a complete 8.25 rear that i took out of my current XJ when building it. (open with 3.07 gears). that is available as well. thanks again, Jim! Neal A.
