I don't remember my exact feelings about the liberty, but I do recall that I liked the Toureg... If my veggie oil setup works out I may be driving my J10 and Jimmy more often because of the costs, etc. My wife for some strange reason actually likes riding in the Jimmy... and since it's actually a "passenger" vehicle it's suitable for family use. In fact we traveled across the states in the one we had before, also a 6.2L Diesel. If the J10 works as well as expected with the 6.2L Diesel and the new 700R4, well, I won't be driving the Benz nearly as much... if we keep the Jimmy for a passenger unit, Diesel powered of course, then that's another strike against the 300D. The third strike for the benz is the seats... my wife's back does not like the seats in the 300d... I'm not fond of them, but they're better than what's in the Jimmy... so we'll see what the summer unravels... Now that I have my email fixed I need to get the '79 300SD back out there for sale, finish fixing the '86 and '92 xj and see which one my daughter wants so we can reduce the cars in the driveway... ;) only have: '99 wj, '91 300d, '92 xj, '86 xj, '75 j10 trailer, '91 grand am, and the '79 300sd... oh yeah, and in the next week or so the '83 jimmy, and then hopefully not too long after that, the '83 J10 stepside... (only two drivers... ;) john Kevin Pekarek wrote: >> On Tue, Jun 14, 2005 at 07:20:53PM -0700, john meister wrote: >> > >>>>y'all are awful quiet... ;) was wondering if anyone had seen or test >>>>driven either a Liberty Diesel >>>>or a VW Toureg with the Diesel... > >> >> >> I thought you had. >> >> K ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2005 22:44:35 -0700 From: john meister Subject: Re: fsj: 78 Cherokee project, for sale CHEAP, MUST GO or it's scrap tacoma, I'm interested in the aux tank and the 33's, willing to meet me in Boise? it'll take me about 10 hrs to get down there... you're about 9 hrs away... it'll be a few weeks before I have a vehicle that can haul that stuff and make it that far... :) curtis found a good tranny for my jimmy... or we could wait until SuperDawg is done... not sure if it'll be done at the end of June like I'd hoped, but he's making good progress so it may happen this summer... what kind of 33's. on six lug? It seems like you were too far away or I would have taken it off your hands already. Too bad I haven't started working on my '78 yet or I'd know which parts I needed. If you were close enough I'd haul it off now and worry about what my wife had to say later. Too bad a sold my '74 front axle with my '71 Wagoneer. They've finally seen the light of the benefit of compression ignition so I just agree with them and don't make a significant effort to explain the differences, but do offer to explain that: SVO - straight vegetable oil (go to Costco and buy 5 gallons. ;) WVO - waste vegetable oil dino Diesel - at the pump, from the ground and refinery bioDiesel - at the pump, from a processor the first two typically require heaters to keep from gelling. WVO of course requires filtering. SVO of course just needs heat in colder climes. BioDiesel has a higher gel point than Diesel. BioDiesel of course may be made from either SVO or WVO. But considering that I've burned chicken noodle soup before my wife will not permit me near the kitchen with such things... so being the clueless one in the kitchen I'm filtering my WVO and using it that way. ;) john >> dieseljohn-at-comcast.net wrote: >> >> > >>>>---------------------- Forwarded Message: --------------------- >>>>From: Bob >>>>To: xj-at-digest.net >>>>Subject: Re: xj: Re: [db] diesels >>>>Date: Fri, 17 Jun 2005 07:31:34 +0000 >>>> >>>>John and all, >>>> >>>>Regarding biodiesel, you might find this amusing..... >>>> >>>>This article appeared in our local paper (here in CT) not too long ago. >>>> >>>>Car's alternative fuel said to attract bear >>>> >>>>WINSTED, Conn. -- A Winsted man believes the sweet smell of the >>>>vegetable oil he uses to fuel his car attracted the bear that damaged >>>>the vehicle white trying to get at the biodiesel. >>>> >>>>Larry Joy, a 53-year-old electrician, said the bear shattered a window >>>>on his 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit, tipped the plastic fuel tank on its side, >>>>and gnawed on car hoses about two weeks ago.
