Willys A: I spent the day (after I got my lazy butt out the door at 11AM) collecting my old 33" tires back (just want the rims for my new to me 33/9.50/15 BFG KOs. Then I am selling the current 'slightly too wide for my 5" lifted Comanche' 255/85/16 Trxus tires aka 33/10.50/16 on early ZJ 16" alloy wheels for $400 obo). The 2 worst are coming off rims for new tires along with a couple dead tires on spare white steel rims. (I have 1 XJ alloy 15" with a tire on it if anyone needs it too) I came back to my place and went into my storage to start the moving around of stuff so I can unload my '90 E350 moving van and have it ready to sell soon (more money to go into the Index cabin property!). I got about 15% of the van unloaded (all the insulation and building stuff for the cabin is loaded in my Comanche for a possible day trip up there 2 weeks from now) We used my floor jack to lift the back end of the '84 J10 high enough to get car ramps under the rear tires (the storage is 12'x30' and the truck is getting packed in!) and I used my engine hoist to lift the front to do the same. With the SOA lift, I can now walk around under the truck bent over to move stuff around (I wish the ramps were a bit taller though!) I'll have several transmissions and tcases to sell soon (I'll wait till after Christmas so there is a bit more money around) I sold the 4 speed auto I have off a V10 Dodge (discovered it's the same as the Cummins diesel one, at least bolt pattern wise) and will have the NV241 DHD for sale unless I can find a 4x4 output shaft from a 727 off an earlier Cummins. (I could swap the shaft into a Jeep 727 and make it super duty and it has a port for a hydraulic PTO as well!) If not, I'll go with the Jeep 727 and NP208 I bought off a Dodge (RH drop instead of left like '80 up FSJs) I dug out the Ford D60 I hope to sell soon (4.10 posi) and then I'll have a place for the J20 front axle to go till I have time to swap my J4000's front end out. build your truck right the first time! heading to work on Saturday snapped a nice sunrise... http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2005/Dec-18-Willys-n-a-sunrise/ today after church Mark and I pulled the top off the Willys... we took it out for a test drive... needs a starter relay (jumped it)... also the "used" top we found at olympic didn't fit, going to have to buy a new one... :( the Willys ran quite nicely, but 2nd gear is in worse shape then the old top... went from 1st to massive grinding sounds as we slowed... he'd give up on 2nd and go for third then lug the engine slowly up to speed... ;) I still think I will put the slow moving vehicle emblem from my old tractor on the back of this thing... the tail lights are the size of tea cups... no brake lights, no seat belts, no wipers... no heat... the tires we put on it are pretty decent though, rode pretty smooth. of course the tires probably weigh more than the jeep. :) my son doesn't think I should get rid of my benz for another XJ... he's wanting one of these engines for a project too... I still think that this 2.5L Turbo Diesel would be sweet in an XJ... I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he's putting the 6.2L Diesel from the GMC into his '74 Javelin in place of the Ford 460... ;) It's a good thing that the 240D found a new home already... otherwise that engine/trans would be in this Willys... ;) ah yes... dreams and drivin' john ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Dec 2005 23:06:40 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: 6.2L shop manuals just looking through some pdf's I bought on ebay for the 6.2L Diesel, turns out the manuals are "unlimited" distribution... so I'm unhiding the directory: http://JohnMeister.com/DIESELS/6.2L_Diesel/ john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2554 **************************
