So, this means that john's '91 300D is officially for sale. :) It's a beautiful car but it won't tow my trailer, it won't get out of the driveway if it's really snowy, and it won't haul my '48 Willys. I also have an aversion to loading transmissions and such in the trunk... It is a beautiful car with nothing wrong, gets 28 to 30 mpg in town, almost 40mpg on the freeway in optimal conditions. Has averaged 30 mpg since I've owned it. It has recent tires, brakes (slotted cross drilled rotors on all four corners), MP3/CD (with the original factory stuff included), EUROPEAN headlights (along with the originals), heated seats and an alarm system that locks/unlocks the doors. Oh yeah, and it'll keep up with or get ahead of those obnoxious sounding little ricemobiles with the coffeecan exhausts... I will print out a little sign for when you leave them behind that says something like: "Dude, this is powered by a very little Diesel engine... GET A MUFFLER for that thing!" Anyway, I'm asking $8,000 for my Mercedes but will listen to offers. I'm not in a big hurry to sell it or anything, I may waffle back and sell (one of ) the WJ(s) later, who knows... someone needs to keep better track of me. ;) A few of the Benz pictures are here: http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/2005/Dec-4-snow/ (the only thing not working is the ASD function, the locking rear end, you can see from the pictures that the limited slip is working fine though...) Here's pictures of the "new" to me WJ: http://a.im.craigslist.org/Pk/Ry/xsP3iqV2wdNPkOg1PBXyAU5cfOwQ.jpg http://images.autotrader.com/images/2005/12/9/193/532/2027001639.193532231.IM1.04.240x180_A.240x180.jpg I get my WJ on Friday. :) I can actually tow my trailer and NOT worry about breaking a Jeep... sweet... Hey curtis, I'll be coming down to get the other seats to see if they're stiffer... will pick up my torch so I can start fabricating a tow bar for the Willys.... I'm off from the 23rd until the 3rd... maybe Mark and I will run down next week sometime... will give you a jingle... I can bring down those XJ rims then... :) Y'all have a Merry Christmas! And I hope that you personally know who is the real reason for the season is. :) john ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Dec 2005 22:38:20 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: [db] I got dibs on Johns benz.... you're welcome buddy... :) Hey bruce, I need to get that headlight assembly back so I can give the stock pieces with Shadowfax to Derick. :) Now, where did I put all the other parts? :) Hey Derick, I washed your car and topped off the tank today. ;) one more day at work tomorrow, pick up my "new" jeep on Friday morning. here's my #3 WJ: http://wagoneers.com/WJ/rigs/99-laredo-V8/ BTW, found a Mazda 2.2L Diesel for the CJ-2A... will probably pick it up when I drop off your 300D. :) john On Wed, 21 Dec 2005, Derickam AA wrote: > -->Matter of math, I pay either 20k$+ for a new VW Golf Tdi. > --> > -->Or I buy John's benz for 8K$ and sell it back to him later in a moment of > -->weakness.... ;) > --> > -->I guess this means a 1984 and a 1985 190d will be for sale sometime next > -->year. > --> > -->Thanks John. > --> > -->Derick Amburgey > -->K7DXX ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Dec 2005 22:46:57 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: all in one day... found a nice '99 WJ at a bargain... sold my '91 300D... found a 2.2L Diesel for my CJ-2A... it's raining and in the mid-40's... have coffee, tivo and cable... my son is home on leave... (just kidding). Found a set of tire chains in the trunk even! And my long lost slim-jim, jumper cables and a few missing tools... that 300D trunk is much bigger than it looks. ;) I put back in Mercedes filters, parts, lubricants, literature, the old headlights, the old radio, old blower motor, old (but good) water pump and tstat... :) Trunk is full again Derick. :) I pick up my '99 WJ tomorrow morning. :) I think I'm going to use a real toolbox in the back, I had one I used in my '85 Cherokee that should work nicely. I ordered a new Bestop for my '48 Willys CJ from Central 4wd, it'll be in next week... Going to work on the tow bar setup... Going to chase down that extra T-90 over the holidays and might drag that Mazda 2.2L Diesel home as well. :) Soon as Derick is ready I'll be heading down to Centralia to visit with Superdawg and swap out my seats... :) Oh yeah, found out that this WJ is from Tacoma. Ran the VIN... no warranty work was performed, but all the recalls have been handled. :) http://wagoneers.com/WJ/rigs/99-laredo-V8/ later, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2556 **************************
