(my old '91 300D)... 257 miles on a tank... 14 mpg... shadowfax's worst was about 28mpg, and that was with a leaking fitting... ;) well, Derick (the guy that bought shadowfax when I bought the '99 WJ) and I have been having some challenges with credit unions getting them to take each others checks, requiring derick to drive all the way up here to sign it an additional place... meanwhile my credit union has made me wait for the funds... crazy... it's like these two organizations don't own phones that can communicate with each other or something. Anyway, that's still not as crazy as what Derick and I have decided to do... I've decided to buy Shadowfax back... Derick is fine with it and while it's going to cost me a bunch in sales tax and title transfer fees I'll make that up in fuel savings... My wife is encouraging me to get the Benz back... I think she was shocked that it went away so quickly... thankfully she likes my WJ so that means her white WJ goes away... :) Yes, that means that the white '99 WJ with the 4.0L is officially for sale. Checked with a dealer and he said to price it at $9995.00. It's only got 80,000 miles on it, 4.0L / AT/NP242, excellent tires, very clean, new shocks and rear brakes, new water pump and fan setup, Amsoil in the crankcase. 18.3 mpg going over to Leavenworth. The white Laredo came from a Jeep dealership in Everett, it's a local Jeep, all updates and recalls have been done. Rust is not an option here. We've put about 5,000 miles on it since Aug 2004... we paid $11,500 for it... man prices sure drop quick on these things... :) We're going to keep my '99 WJ with more miles and the V8... it has a hitch and sunroof. :) I'm really happy with it... except of course for it's little drinking problem. ;) It's fast and tows my '75 J10 trailer without a thought... just put new tires on it, had the entire driveline switched over to amsoil and it's doing superb... just not economical... ;) That also means that when my J10 is done that the '48 Willys CJ-2A will be pushed out of the nest... I don't think I'm going to sell the Benz again, and after all this time I'm not parting with Superdawg, so that leaves the Willys up for adoption. My wife is a very tolerant and patient woman, but after 30 years I know how many toys I'm permitted... and I'm already pretty much over my limit... ;) I've got quite a bit into the Willys at this point... not sure on a price yet until I get it reassembled after the paint, get the new top on it, install the wipers and seals, fix the starter, etc. I had it painted before any finishing touches were put on the body because I didn't want it to rust, mold or otherwise deteriorate. Only non-stock items are the 4 cyl engine and windshield. I'm looking forward to completing that project... it's going to be very nice... Also have a '92 XJ sport that is getting an engine... would sell it right now with the engine out for $1,200, very clean... have tow bar, will deliver... fuel extra... ;) So, it looks like I'll be back to driving a car again... or will be later next week, unless of course Derick changes his mind and decides to keep the '91 300D... which is certainly within his rights... I'll miss the accleration of the 4.7L V8, but the 2.5L TD isn't a slug either... all this craziness wouldn't happen if two conditions existed: 1) car makers sold vehicles with Diesel engines with the setup I want and 2) I could actually afford them if they did offer them... in the meantime, I have to build my own and have several variations. ;) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jan 2006 08:30:52 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: RE: I-5 adventures - a new twist... They are priced right, come with motion, glass break, entry and shock sensors. If you want to put more money into it you get an FM remote to see if your car alarm is alarming and also a GPS tracker to hand to the cops if it gets stolen. Elektro- und Benzinmotor - ELECTRIC AND GAS MOTOR Benzin is gasoline... the article mentions something about Mercedes and their Diesel, NOT Lexus using one... and it didn't appear that Mercedes WAS doing anything with theirs... the article also appears to say that VW isn't real keen on the hybrid idea from an ecological standpoint because of the batteries, although my German isn't that good and I really don't want to take the time to do a complete translation... Anyway, the lexus is NOT a Diesel: "esteht aus 3,3-l-V6-Benzinmotor und zwei Elektromotoren, CVT-Getriebe, Leistung in Summe 200 kW (270 PS)" it's a 3.3L v6 gas engine and two electric motors... roughly 270 hp. Diesel ist Diesel, aber Benzin ist "gasoline".... nicht richtig meine freunde... :) spaeter... johannes ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Blair wrote: > http://www.autotouring.at/index.php?type=article&year=2004&month=04&id=26401&menu_active=035 > > build your truck right the first time! > > _________________________________________________________________ > Is your PC infected?
