(but not enough to see if the rear window was larger, which would confirm the '56 model year) http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/2006/Victoria-BC-Feb-10/FEB_11_Day2/P2110122.jpg http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/2006/Victoria-BC-Feb-10/FEB_11_Day2/P2110120.jpg http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/2006/Victoria-BC-Feb-10/FEB_11_Day2/P2110121.jpg trying to confirm what year this Willys pickup is. Saw pictures of it at Butchart Gardens today. The guy at the shop didn't know... It's got the raised grille, but a split windshield... tags are 1955, that could be a clue... :) My initial guess was somewhere between 50 and 60, After 50 the grille changed, and in 60 is when they went one piece on the windshield... However based on the unique grille I'm guessing it's a 1956 model, the 1955 tags would be correct then, as they would have been issued in 1955. The following page was useful in making this determination, since 1956 was the only year that had the three horizontal bars like this one did. It was a little hard to sort out the details, but there was enough info... http://www.public.asu.edu/~grover/willys/id.html the rest of today's pictures from Butchart Gardens and Vancouver Island are at: http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/2006/Victoria-BC-Feb-10/FEB_11_Day2/ALL.html So, based on what the grille, hood and license plate I'm guessing that this Willys pickup is a 1956. john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2006 09:33:38 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: RE: best venue to sell? and victoria bc I recently had my '93 Cherokee posted on Craig's list for $1,000 (after all the work I did on it, it will probably need a motor in the next year from all the piston noise I hear. Now I will replace the old one with the '93 ZJ motor sitting in my '84 J10 since the wiring isn't hooked up yet and I can finally finish my stroker buildup). With the recent jumping of fuel costs (and media saying we'll be at $3 a gallon by end of summer), the price of SUV's is dropping like a rock. Only replies I got were from people wanting it for free or the Nigerian fraud squad. I'm hoping to get the perk test (so we can put in septic) and well drilled so I know where I can put in my shop before we have our house built. (priorities! It'll actually save money because all the stuff we have in storage now costs $235 a month) build your truck right the first time! (I'm thinking bottom) - should I attempt to do the insertion with the frame on the jeep or off? thanx, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2006 09:42:15 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: RE: fsj: windshield insertion Got a pic of it?
