But as far as decent service I've had a couple of my Jeeps into Dwayne Lanes here in Everett. They seem honest and have done the work I asked within budget. Had a key made and had it programmed, they checked the rig out and found a couple of things that I took care of. And you can buy parts through Meister Distribution and Service while you're there. Really sorry to hear you're having trouble. I hate for any Jeep to be a problem, and especially a Diesel... The KJ isn't really a Jeep though... neither is the WK, note, it doesn't even have a J in the designator!!! The fools. They're ruining the Jeep heritage... the only one left that's real is the Wrangler, just give them time... :( Who can rescue Jeep from the clutched of the Rube Goldberg gang? BTW, anyone know what a tank heater costs? I'm going to set my '91 Grand Wagoneer's auxillary tank up with a heater so I can do the waste veggie oil thing... ain't paying someone a grand for a kit either... not when I have a Grainger's catalog and a business license. ;) I'm off on a 3,000 mile mountain adventure... need to finish packing... only weak spot on the '99 WJ is a leaky rear pinion seal... carrying a quart of amsoil gear lube, will crawl under the jeep in South Dakota and check the level, if needed I'll buy a small pump or basting tool to top it off... not going to carry my pump, nasty smelling stuff... :) the adventure to go here: http://JohnMeister.com/fotos/SouthDakota_2006/ john '99 WJ Grand Cherokee - 4.7L V8 '91 SJ Grand Wagoneer - 6.2L V8 Diesel under construction '91 124 300D - 2.5L I-5 TD (will shadowfax or the WJ leave??? :) '83 SJ J10 Stepside - 4.0L? 4.2L? 5.9L? or 6.2L? that is the question '75 SJ J10 hydraulic dump trailer '48 CJ-2A others in transition... Haven't had much luck uploading pictures with my verizon vz620 card... blue screened a couple of times... (hey, anyone have a SuSE Linux driver for it? Anyway, we're almost to Helena, MT. The WJ is doing fine, but is leaking out the rear pinion seal and making a mess... will top it off at one of those mini-lube places... maybe in South Dakota I'll have it fixed if I can find a wrench there I can trust. Went through Glacier today... at the Divide had a rain/hailstorm, lightning and wind... pretty cool. Got a picture of lightning stricking behind the WJ on the east side of Glacier. Will try to upload that one... (can't believe I forgot to bring a CAT5 cable... at a holiday inn express... they're out... almost ran to wally world for one, will wait until morning and my try to upload pictures... Now for the Popcorn report. I think we've got it all sorted out now... Here's the final fleet configuration: '99 WJ 4.7L (no name) Grand Cherokee Laredo - stays (glad we took it) '91 SJ 6.2L Diesel (Omega) Grand Wagoneer - stays (going to heat the 2nd tank) '48 CJ 2A (Alpha) - stays hidden in the carport, comes out every now and then.) '83 SJ 4.0L/AW4 (Superdawg) J10 Stepside, here's where it gets interesting... my wife has totally vetoed the idea of white, which I'm with her on, but she also vetoed the same color as her WJ... she has requested a Black Cherry or, the mutually agreed upon color of ROOT BEER BROWN METALLIC... with a dump bed (light weight version... ;) Which means that I will be selling my '75 J10 Hydraulic dump trailer that comes complete with the onboard deepcycle gel cel, toolbox, aux tank in bed, hydraulic pump, dual cylinders, original Jeep canopy and disc brakes on an empty pumpkin Model 20 controlled by a surge brake controller... fully licensed and titled. No extra charge for any hornets that may have taken up residence. I'll also be selling the '91 300D with the 2.5L Turbo Diesel called Shadowfax. Just had new brakes installed, a/c gone through, new motor mounts and is doing just fine... The '91 Grand Wagoneer will be my daily driver. I am not selling the 300D until the GW is home... :) I'm thinking this could happen THIS September... I'm not sure what to ask for the 300D, it sold pretty quick the last time... ;) Maybe I should do it by bids, open or sealed... In the meantime I need to fix the pinion seal and driver's side door stop on the WJ, swap the trans and install the top on the CJ, and start looking for the tank heater stuff for Omega... may break down and buy the Greasel kit... Well, time for this driver to call it a night... hurt my back running up a trail at Glacier... (dropped my key and someone noticed my hat and told me they'd set it on a rock up at the top... I should know better than to run, but it's hard... I still think I can do two miles in 11:30 like I did almost 30 years ago... My mind is willing, and parts of my body are... but that fifth lumbar gave up back in 1982... :( But it's ok, the pain is making for quite a bit of humor... I guess I look real funny walking around with a glad bag filled with ice hanging out the top of my shorts... :) managed to upload the picture: http://wagoneers.com/fotos/SouthDakota_2006/WJ-lightning.jpg john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2676 **************************
