FIX I tend to lurk here, but thought I'd mention... You know that problem where later FSJ doors tend to lock themselves? It's caused by a broken torsion spring in the door latch mechanism. I decided to figure out how to reproduce these by hand, primarily because its a problem that's been bugging me for years but also I figured hey I bet I'm not the only one. So, I decided to make these springs available for sale at a reasonable price along with detailed install instructions that cover how to clean up the latch and troubleshoot to make the electric locks work better. For the older rigs (pre 1979.5 with the round door latch) one of my pals has a 74 where the locks were really hard to open. That's because of overly strong OEM springs combined with dirty latches. If these springs break I guess they'd tend to lock themselves too. I'm also making torsion springs available that have a lot lower tension to solve that problem. Anyhoo... I put them up on my webpage: http://tc.wagoneer.net/sblog/ static.php?page=doorsprings (and ebay, like I said) Here's the PDF install instructions (aside from the springs, this will help with door disassembly & latch cleaning even if your springs are good). Covers the pre 79.5 and 79.5+ rigs. Oh and also there are some other tech articles here (some done, some in the works) such as how to install leaf guards under the cowl vent, and installing later model Honda window washer nozzles: http://tc.wagoneer.net/sblog/static.php?page=installguides Thanks!
