New manifolds (without the AIR stuff) were about $50 each last I checked. IIRC, the '72 up AMC Cars used the same manifolds as the '80 up FSJs. I had to remove the ones from my '77 304 (from an AMX) to bolt the motor into my '73 J4000 as they didn't line up to the pipe angle or allow for clearance of the front driveshaft with the later FSJ exhaust pipe. I have several used hydroboosts for sale that can be adapted to '74+ rigs fairly easily and I'm working out issues for pre '74 rigs. The hydroboost itself is $75 and includes mounting bolts and will be bushed to fit your brake pedal assembly. If you have a '81+ rig you will also need the master cylinder and that set up is only $100. Shipping on these in the continental US is under $25. Other things you would need to purchase on your own are: 1) new hoses (I will give you the part numbers depending on your vehicle) 2) a 3/8" barbed hose T-fitting for the return line (if you can't find one I can get them) 3) a 1" spacer block to fit between your aluminum firewall spacer and the mounting plate of the hydroboost. You can fab your own (I will provide the dimensions) or you can purchase them through a buddy of mine at $35 for a stainless spacer or $25 for a regular spacer that you will need to paint. 4) if you have flared hose fittings (pre '80 rigs) you will need to adapt your hoses and there are a few ways to accomplish that which I will guide you on. Just a note here, if your rig has the later style cruise control ('83+ ?) the servo will need to be relocated. If you have a 6 cyl with the weber carb the throttle linkage will need to be modified slightly I believe, or the HB can be inverted for greater clearance although it does take longer to bleed inverted. I also have a guy looking to make custom hoses that will adapt the metric o-ring HB end to the earlier flared hose fittings on pre '80 rigs. For pre '74 rigs I have quite a bit of the details worked out already, there are some variations among those rigs so with some basic info/measurements from you I am confident I can adapt these to your application as well, but you will need another master cylinder, as well as a residual pressure valve for your front brake line to maintain a firm pedal (~$26), and you have to have power steering already. If you are interested... I do take paypal. Any questions? John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn. The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel. Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has held demonstrations at his State College lab to confirm his own observations. The radio frequencies act to weaken the bonds between the elements that make up salt water, releasing the hydrogen, Roy said. Once ignited, the hydrogen will burn as long as it is exposed to the frequencies, he said. The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said. "This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere," Roy said. "Seeing it burn gives me the chills." Roy will meet this week with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to try to obtain research funding. The scientists want to find out whether the energy output from the burning hydrogen - which reached a heat of more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit - would be enough to power a car or other heavy machinery. "We will get our ideas together and check this out and see where it leads," Roy said. "The potential is huge." - --- Information from: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, http://www.post-gazette.com The Associated Press ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 09:47:10 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: fsj: Wanted: Bed Lamp Housing I don't know, I haven't seen mine for years... it's down in the black hole in Centralia... 105 miles south and many light years away... seems that email and voicemail messages can't escape either... ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Tue, 11 Sep 2007, michel balea wrote: # Does it look like an inside dome lamp from the 70's.... # # Pict for the untrucking educated... forgot what they look like # # M # # From: john # Reply-To: john # To: Neal Hoover # CC: fsj-at-digest.net # Subject: Re: fsj: Wanted: Bed Lamp Housing # Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 06:56:30 -0700 (PDT) # # well I have one for superdawg but I haven't # seen it for six years.... # # john # # ----- # ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold # http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** # ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # # On Tue, 11 Sep 2007, Neal Hoover wrote: # # # oh, c'mon, john, yer killin' me!!!! # # ;p # # # # the bed lamp stands proud of the big chrome trim piece that runs along # the # # top/back of the cab, so it hardly even comes in contact with the body # color. # # i'm not *that* much of a nut for restoring things exaclty back to # original, # # but that kind of a color scheme i think would look just plain silly.... # # # # Neal A.
