WILL WE RUN INTO ICE/SNOW? alternate option is to run over to the coast and take 101 down, not sure where to cut over and back, and it'll add a lot of time to the trip. will probably be taking the '91 300d as it gets 35+ on the road... the other option is to go down to AZ via Boise, Salt Lake City and down that way, but I suspect we'd hit a lot more snow and ice that way... thoughts? (other than why not fly?) :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2007 21:07:46 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: working with what is available... with no contact since September from Curtis and no contact with the people on the title for the '89 GW... I've got some ideas on what to do... what else have I got? :) it's amazing how many people can just not do stuff... simple things like releasing a title or returning a phone call seems to be an impossibility... Anyway, my '91 GW should almost be done, if curtis hasn't touched it since April, a very likely possibility, as soon as school finishes up I may go down with a trailer and bring it home and fix it myself. I have no idea where he's at with it... was pretty close to being a running system... So, I plan to get Superdawg reassembled enough to bring him home so I can work on him later, driveline to be determined later, most likely the original 4.2/5spd/208 stock setup... (have a 4.2L up here) A 4.7L V8 would be nice too. Then there is Rambo... I'm thinking that since it was designed as an Audio Visual military vehicle that I'll continue on that and set it up for serious off-road use for photography purposes... but what engine? Well, that's where the '89 titleless GW comes in... it's got a great body and all, but with no title and fuel prices out of sight it's not going to sell.. so my crazy thought is to take Rambo and put him on the '89 Chassis, put the '89 on the '67 Chassis and sell it for parts with no title... of course I will try to move as much of the creature comforts over as possible into the Panel. Lots of work... but when I get done I'll have a nice running Panel that will be a great work truck... Doesn't really solve my fleet desire of having one vehicle, but with collector plates and not requiring insurance (will use collector ins to protect myself anyway) the panel will not be costly to keep around and I can use it to house a lot of my tools... in fact, I may make it my rolling workshop. Rambo would also have trailer hauling and parts chasing duties... would be my work/yard truck... Omega might be my daily driver and possible long haul rig. The '99 WJ would continue to be my wife's jeep and other long haul rig... not sure if I'll keep the '91 300D or not... so much of this is so far out it's just ideas at this point. Frustrated ideas because I had it figured out but couldn't get it implemented... reverting to an alternate plan... make work with what I have... when friends let you down what else can you do? Anyway, after thinking about it, and even talking with my wife and son, I have decided to restore Rambo and use him... it's clear that Curtis didn't hold up his end of the deal. The original deal was he swap the engine in Superdawg by Labor Day 2001 and he could buy Rambo for a bargain price... but instead Superdawg has been sitting in pieces since April 2001. I could have done the 4.0L conversion in plenty of time for Ouray 2002. Instead I had to take the '99 WJ... :( Omega was supposed to be done in May, negotiated a fair price and the engine from Omega... well, Curtis got the engine, fixed another jeep and hasn't touched Omega since. Called in September said he might start working on it next week... here it is December and curtis hasn't answered email, phone calls or letters. Soon as school is over I'll be renting a trailer to bring my jeeps home... by then my son will be home to help me. -o|||||o- ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2007 22:18:50 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: popcorn event! I was checking something else and noticed that ebay had a free car listing on Dec 1 & 2... So, I just listed two vehicles at 10pm seattle time, cut off is at midnight pacific time. :) Tired of messing around with some of these loose ends... and unfinished projects. Was thinking about taking these two vehicles and making one... but why? why should I go through all that work? so I figured what the heck, I'll try to sell the '89 GW and the '67 J100 rather than restore them or merge 'em. :) this is the '67 J100 - opens at $3,000. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160187117440 this is the '89 Grand Wagoneer - opens at $4,500 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160187113893 prices are purposely on the higher side... not so much with the panel, that price is about right, but on the '89 I put it a little bit higher because I'm not completely done with it and I don't have the title yet. If I get a bid I'll be out there putting the finishing touches on it and over at the previous owner's house with the paperwork. Nothing like an ebay sale to motivate you to get something done. :) If anyone on this list is interested in either be happy to talk... and provide more pictures. We'll see how this works out.. :) I doubt I'll get bids on either, which is just fine with me... I need to check my ebay inbox more often, I keep missing all these free listing offerings. :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2007 11:01:56 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: RE: fsj: road trip driving is way more fun that flying... that's why I started this list. and yes, the central valley is painfully and hideously boring... 101 is much more scenic and has more in-n-out burgers too. :) ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Mon, 3 Dec 2007, michel balea wrote: # # # If it was me....
