The first time I really believe it was solved by retightening the intake manifold bolts. I had also replaced Cap, Rotor, and pickup coil assy. Cap and rotor had 15k+ miles on them, so ... MAYbe they were contributing. But Vince installed an Edelbrock Performer on this motor for the carb to sit on and I have found it common for the intake bolts to loosen up time and time again. As a matter of course, I also tightened up those bolts while I was under the hood changing the ignition parts, so it's not a definitive answer but it ran fine after the work and I didn't have any further trouble for several months. (although it isn't driven regularly any more. I'll fire it up and drive it on some errands once in a while, but unless I'm going wheeling, [not near often enough] I don't generally drive it.) The SECOND time this problem cropped up the electric fuel pump was the culprit. I replaced the pump, all the fuel lines, and many other rubber hoses at the time and CAUSED the problem that I described in my earlier post. Once I fixed the pinched line, the problem was finally solved. That was last April and nary a problem since. Drove it up from Memphis to Indy last fall pulling a fairly overloaded 6x10' utility trailer (had all shop tools and equipment inside) and it ate a lot of gas, ran a little warmer than normal, but otherwise made the trip with no complaints at all. So I should probably check the intake bolts again... it's been nearly another year. Thanks for reminding me. ;-) - --- michel balea wrote: > > > I have the carter pump rated also at 4-6psi... and > it does not quit even at 70+ mph for 10-15 > minutes... it is just the oil level that drops.... > time for a valve seal post. > > So what was your problem in the end... > ignition/distributor/coil/module > > > Michel > > > > Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2008 08:54:14 -0800 > > From: thejeepnut-at-yahoo.com > > Subject: fsj: re: Fuel Delivery Problems RETURN > > To: fsj-at-digest.net > > > > When I was t/s these problems I just stuck a T on > the > > line and ran the hose out of the engine bay under > the > > bonnet lip, on the rear corner, and taped the > pressure > > gauge to the wiper w/ duct tape.
