Schwabauer" Subject: fsj: Adventures of the Golden Brick: A dead battery and new alternator My battery is not maintaining a charge, could be the battery (almost new but abused pretty heavily earlier this week, see p.s. below) or the alternator. Either way, rather than fussing with a potentially bad 12Si I am just going to install my NIB, 140 amp CS144. I need to increase the resistance in the L circuit of the alternator from 15 ohms to somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-500 ohms in order not to burn the thing up. The question is: should I just splice in a 1 watt resistor or would it be a good idea to add an ALT light to the dash and use the resistance of the bulb to make up the difference? This is what the L circuit was originally for anyway. Just curious what opinion was. GAS p.s. When upgrading the ignition system make sure you clock the distributor at TDC on the compression stroke, not the exhaust stroke. You will need to recharge the battery several times before you figure it out. Don't ask me how I know, just trust me on this. p.p.s. If I were to stumble casually across an OEM receiver hitch with the heavy duty trailer lighting harness, where in the vehicle are the extra relays located? Just in case I every need to know... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Jun 2008 19:50:26 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: RE: Jeepers talk !!! nice... :) http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/Mees_Krul_NL/ ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 27 Jun 2008, Mees Krul wrote: # that time i wasn,t born !! # I,am from 1980. # Are you here then (holland ,Schoorl) for a holiday ?? # # About the wagoneer ,it,s my dad,s # # My work and daily drive is a '73 J4000 360 v8 2bbl 3speed , named 'Heep and # came from Huntington beach CA.
