(background: a GMC 6.2L "J" motor Diesel from 1983 3/4t 4x4 pickup was "inserted" into my 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer... have the stock jeep wiring in place, and remnants of the GM cruise system... including computer and brake pedal. ;) ...last night we determined that it would "MIGHT" be easier to use the GM servo since it had the brackets and such for the 6.2L Diesel injection pump. So we ripped apart the servos (jeep and gm) and figured out the wiring... JEEP function GMC - ------------------------------------------------ orange GROUND Black dark red Accel Power Green white Decel Power Dark Blue Gray Potentiometer 1 Light Blue Tan Potentiometer 2 Tan Ok, no problem, we've got it figured out... so, called my favorite Chevy dealer with the part number from the deceased original GM servo... no longer available... ah, but there is one in Texas... for $227 and change... and shipping... hold the order... need to regroup... ...regrouping because I really don't know if the Jeep computer and controls will really work with that servo... we're morphing a GAS AMC system to a DIESEL GM system... I don't have a good feeling about interoperability, actually I have more confidence that we can make this work than I do in making Linux and Microsoft work together, but that's another story for another time... ;) So, that brings me to my trusty JC Whitney catalog... and looking at universal cruise controls... which lead me to an Audiovox universal kit: http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=341067&langId=-1 the manual for the Audiovox CCS-100 is at: http://site.brandsplace.com/audiovox.pdf (among other places) Problem is it has a tach input... I have no tach... not sure if it's needed or not... don't know if it'll work with a Diesel... the Diesel universals are 3 and 4 times the price... if there is one that doesn't require magnets on the driveshaft I don't mind spending the money if it works and is simple... I still could go with the stock Jeep cruise setup, but need a bracket to mount it to the Diesel... might be the best solution... however I think we cut the cables last night... no worries... have a soldering iron. :) and the cruise wasn't work with the original AMC 360... that's another concern... - ------------------------------------------------------- So, all this background brings me to you with THE QUESTIONS: 1) do you have a GM cruise servo for an '83 GMC 3/4T with a 6.2L Diesel 2) do you know of a universal cruise control that would work with the cruise switch (GM style) on the stalk of a '91 Grand Wagoneer... 3) do you have a good Grand Wagoneer servo (I think mine has a ruptured diaprahm) - ------------------------------------------------------- I have a soldering iron and a firm grasp of electronics... really do NOT want to attach magnets to my driveshaft(s). There is a speed sensor in the speedometer cable on the Jeep with two leads... ideas? parts? :) I think PLAN B at this point is to try to make the stock Jeep system work with the IP on the 6.2L Diesel... in other news, replaced the glow plug controller last night... actually works normally now! need to hook up my old test fuel gauge for the aux tank... the jeep is in a shop hopefully getting the a/c sorted out today... making progress... :) have the body control module and the seat module from a '99 WJ to make the heated leather WJ seats work... not a big priority for a few weeks... ;) thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3126 **************************
