(that's a joke... traffic... ;) Just ordered a replacement chip that guarantees +2 mpg over stock... they also have a custom exhaust (4") and other goodies to get the 6.5L mileage up... the owner of the shop has a Suburban with the 6.5L that gets 25 mpg... towing a race car... 18 mpg... :) I guess I'm going to place the order for the 4" exhaust... got a bid on Omega this afternoon. Also, trying to find the tires with the least rolling resistance in 245/75r16. The owner of Heath Diesel swears by BFG Long Trail T/As for quiet, smooth and exceptionally low rolling resistance and longevity... the tread pattern looks like it'll be fine in rain and the occassional snow we get here... I called Michelin trying to find out about their lowest rolling resistance tire... I guess there really isn't any way to measure... it seems a bit subjective overall... but based on the recommendation, and the 25 mpg Suburban, I'm going that way... he also recommended the Commercial T/As, very similar I guess to the Long Trails... thoughts? BTW, if anyone sees a trailer hitch for a 124 series sedan in the seattle area, let me know.. new price is about $250 or so... a used one should run around $85. The Mich did ouray and the BFG Moab...... Mich last a long time, they are on a reserved jeep... no flat spot... the rubber is starting to crack... but it has been sitting for 5 years in the sun after being used for 40Kmiles, still has some useful life besides the cracks. The BFGs are more aggressive.... so they could yield less mileage due to the aerodynamics, but i could not find any difference. The sound is no different... and my wagoneer is quiet: stock exhaust. My running psi is from 36psi on freeway to 34 and even 32 for small town runs. I did not get more flats from the BFGs.... always in town mind you.
