I havent been able to find where the source vacuum should come from. Is it the canister on the firewall or is off the intake manifold? Ultimately i would like to see photos of how the vacuum lines are routed for everything including the vacuum opertated vents. and then assuming i get it hooked and functional( hoopefully indicator light will work) How do i know if its actually engaging.. On another note My car now runs pretty darn normal with adding an additional electric fuel pump.. I have no idea why a Carter street/strip isnt adequate.. The motor is stock minus the mechanical secondaries on the carb.. I added a Mr gasket electric pump and now it isnt running out of gas when i get on it above 75 mph and also sometimes it used to stumble on hot days from an idle. That seams all gone now. I can actually smell the richness now! Thank You for any help or advice Bob Zabawa 78 Cherokee Chief _________________________________________________________________ See how Windows connects the people, information, and fun that are part of your life. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp1020093175mrt/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Oct 2008 20:04:16 -0700 From: Jim Blair Subject: RE: fsj: Quadra trac vacuum routing.. and T?S Emergancy drive Unit The vacuum comes from the intake to a vacuum ball, then to the glovebox switch and down to the tcase. Picts are tricky to take, but i can try later. Earlier model of 74 has plain rubber line that snake around the speedo cable.... and over the TC to the passenger side. Later model like 78 has a metal line that goes does the trany tunnel, so it does not cook on the exhaust.... The vacuum switch for the emergency control may be toast... it will have a "hiss" in one or all position, I am using a syringe stopcock ..... Don't laugh, this is a free 3 way switch.... The only catch: it is so tight, that i have to disconnect the un-used line to release the vacuum. The OEM leaking a bit, the vacuum leaks and allow for the bellow to pull the rod. When the actuator rod moves... it will bounce on a roller ball, that close the circuit... and if your light bulb is good.... Emergncy lock out light will brighten your face... yes it is a white indicator. If you insist on pict... i can do that manana... I am doing some rust touch-up... and the floor is littered w... dust.
