I almost bought one last summer for $1,000 (when gas prices were crazy) Got the Audi 2.0L powered DJ instead and toyed around with the TDI swap idea (then I remembered I don't like the smell of diesel and my wife decided to hate it) I tried to liberate it from the icy clutches of the snow at my cabin today (I have someone wanting to buy it for $250), but even BMax's '68 Travelall 4x4 couldn't break free! (I managed to move it 25 feet more before it high centered again) I've decided that if I am going to live out there (yes, I am determined!) I'm going to have to get a tractor with a loader on it. An XJ weighs about 3400lbs give or take... the CJ-10A weighs 6,000 minus the 1,200lb ballast and 600lbs worth of bumpers, not to mention the oversized dana 70 rear axle... or about 4500lbs, giver or take... anyways, where I'm heading is that Diesel might just drop into an XJ and might even be able to move it around ok... this isn't even in the popcorn phase yet folks. ;) btw, just got back from centralia, dropped off the '80 j10.
