Figure I'll put the longer filter in place as the secondary filter on the engine. The primary is going to get clogged when I start using biodiesel as it'll clean out the system. the 3393 was $11.43 the 3386 was $9.76 (stock 10 micron filter for the 3.2L Diesel) Also picked up those round backup lights and gaskets! Was going to wire in replacements since the ones in there fell apart... but the lamp was $5.29 and the gasket $1.57. Also picked up a couple of reflectors for the front and the rear sides... total bill was $42.33. not too bad... my friend jim is coming over on thursday to look at the ebrake cable... maybe tomorrow night I'll swap the filters and fix up the exhaust... the pipe is hitting the axle now. :) guess I could just extend that with a section of pipe... anyone know what the diameter of the stock exhaust is? All I'll need is about a 6" extension straight section to put it out the back properly... anyone in the seattle-bellevue-everett area know of any places to hold a wedding on the 4th of july? ;) the father of the bride is looking for a place... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Mar 2009 22:55:12 -0700 From: Jim Blair Subject: Re: fsj: estimated speed with new gears Were the drum brake return springs new? Old ones sag (even worse if not put in the correct hole on the shoe) Jim Blair, Lynnwood, WA '87 Comanche, '83 Jeep J10, '84 Jeep J10 From: diesel john Subject: fsj: estimated speed with new gears Looking at the RPM range and speedo reading on the tug, I'm guessing that the indicated speed of 40mph was actually about 57 mph... That would make sense... about a 28% difference in the gear ratios... rpm 3.31s 4.88s 2200 57.11 40.70 I'm thinking that 3.54s would have been even nicer... but nearly 60 mph in the short run I made was great. The engine was not straining... screaming or complaining... if the rear brake was dragging that would explain why I couldn't go faster... :) that brake smelled really hot after about 6 miles... will fire up the GPS and make another run once I free the brake and change the fuel filter... _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live^Y: Life without walls. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_allup_1a_explore_032009 ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3283 **************************
