Speaking of my bus, I watched Mythbusters special Hollywood car crash, etc last night and they recreated the scene in Speed where the bus almost rolls. They had to mod the bus (same style as mine was) to make it roll by remote control after trying several times to do it with themselves at the wheel. From: Jim Blair Subject: RE: fsj: School Bus Engine and Trans Swap? My old 40 foot '67 GMC city bus was 10 tons worth of drivetrain alone (the 5 ton tow truck that helped me swap the engine/trans combo from one bus to the other popped a wheelie when we let the last bolt loose on drivetrain cradle of the parts truck) _________________________________________________________________ Rediscover Hotmail.: Get quick friend updates right in your inbox. http://windowslive.com/RediscoverHotmail?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Rediscover_Upda tes1_042009 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Apr 2009 23:40:29 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: fsj: getting good at installing starters replaced the battery cables, replaced the battery... even bypassed the stock wiring for the starter relay... then replaced the relay... and it still won't turn... which leaves nothing else but the successfully bench tested starter.... when I pulled it out for the 2nd time tonight I hit it with jumper cables... the bendix works now... but the starter doesn't turn... :( the old solenoid had issues, at least on the terminals... so I'm hauling it off to the electric shop and hope the guy can fix it, or it'll be an expensive replacement.... so the tug stays at home again... :( john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Apr 2009 15:43:45 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: [db] Diesel vs Hybrids mercedes appears to be on the same wavelength: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/08/mercedes-benz-to-bring-4-cylinder-diesels-to-the-us/ thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Thu, 9 Apr 2009, Tom H wrote: # VW is laying out their strategy # # http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/08/vw-chief-makes-case-for-diesel-and-cash-for-clunkers/ # ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3305 **************************
