(need to top off the r134 again... was in the upper 60's today and the a/c did not work... :( the cj-10a is increasing in economy the more I drive it... this last tank was 19.88 mpg, previous tank 16.99. Overall average over the last four full tanks is 17.92 mpg, almost entirely on biodiesel. I need to average my readings over several tanks because of the way the tank fills... can't get a consistent fill. Anyway, that 19.88 includes the run up to Arlington, WA from Kirkland with a full 55 gallon drum of WVO and several buckets of whatever that was supposed to be WVO, and two 5 gal buckets of good WVO... had to put overload springs on to make the run... then from Arlington up to the Skagit Valley with 40 gallons of BioDiesel and two empty 55 gallon drums in the back... cruising at 65-70 mph on I-5 for about 30 or 40 miles... then driving to work all week long... with a couple runs down to Seattle to test drive another Diesel... Tomorrow I'll head to NAPA and buy an oil filter and convert the tug to Amsoil 15W40 Marine Grade Synthetic... next week I'll have the NP208 and will take the tug over to Dave's Transmission in Lynnwood to have the swap the 198 out and switch the 727 over to Amsoil synthetic ATF and possibly add a shift kit... then I'll look for opportunities to drive around gleefully waiting to see the improvement in fuel economy... :) also hoping that a shift kit will assist the performance a bit... hoping they can adjust the kickdown as well... figured out that I can down shift manually to 2nd gear and run up to about 45 to 50 coming up hills... Wondering how much more performance and economy I'd get out of this thing if I put in a T18 (or T19)... that SD33T with a T19 is still waiting for me... not eager to swap engines or convert to manual trans... sure am enjoying how fast my '91 300D is in comparison to the tug! wow. ;) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 May 2009 22:39:55 -0700 From: Jim Blair Subject: RE: fsj: fuel economy and bioDiesel Too bad an adapter to AW4 isn't available as the 727 REALLY sucks the power and economy out of the diesel motor.
