So after replacing timing chain, it seems to be a lot less. The funny part is that aiming the timing light at the pointer never showed a wandering marker, even while I was playing w the rpm. Also the battery was not up to specs (it gave up after overcranking while trying to adjust the timing after the timing chain replacement, I really need to put a longer PS belt to compensate for the HEI size) and a newer battery has helped tremendously w hot restart. It seems to be at freeway speed between 62-65, but not all the time. I had made notes while driving back from Moab... and have forgotten if it was more on down or uphills.... arrrrrgh. After I topped off the TC.... a few days latter there was big puddle of trany fluid (the trany is fine, it never needs fluid).... loose bearing knocking off the seal....
