From: diesel john Subject: fsj: Re: [CJ-10List] Diesel options guess it makes the most sense... if it works well in the tug then it should be a simple matter of moving it to the J10. what would be ideal is to move the 4.2/T-5 setup over to the tug then and sell it... I don't think having the tug as a gasser will hurt it's resale, most folks are fascinated by it without realizing it's a Diesel. so who's coming over to help with the swap? :) john _________________________________________________________________ Bing^Y brings you maps, menus, and reviews organized in one place. Jim, I don't see why it wouldn't make it... excellent vehicle, just pulled from service... fleet vehicle... biggest problem for me is I don't have the 4600 and don't know if I need that much truck... want extended cab short box... if I need to haul something long I'll use my trailer... if they put a Diesel in the sport trac that would be just fine with me... smaller makes more sense to me... it does have 238,000 miles on it, but that shouldn't be a big deal. and guess what? NO RUST. and I doubt there is any mold on this one too. ;) There's a '94 Chevy extnd cab, short box in superb condition for about the same price, also with over 200k on it... it's shorter and I'm more familiar with the GM setup... but I think I'd prefer a Ford, but know nothing about them... I test drove a '93 GMC Sierra extnd cab, short box and it was fine, turning radius was acceptable, quiet, excellent ride, didn't seem that long... but I am having trouble seeing myself drive that much vehicle back and forth to work every day... maybe I'm just one of those goofy greenies... I'm big on recycling, Diesel, using stuff wisely, etc. What's wrong with me anyway? ;) Jim, I might be able to pick you up at the airport, although the airport is 40 miles south of me, and Tacoma about 60 miles south of me... that equates to a LONG commute in traffic... and then there will be the pangs of envy when I realize that I passed up a nice Diesel pickup... :) http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/1222538469.html I read as much as I could on this model. The reasons I'm not highly motivated to drive the 60 miles to look at it are: 1) don't have $4600 in hand (although it's about 1/3 of book value!) 2) have four vehicles already 3) the turning radius of the F250 isn't good 4) the engine can be expensive to repair 5) 238k on a fleet vehicle, not likely a big deal 6) the fuel economy is about 16 at best from what I can gather. 7) it's white If this were the short box and mileage was in the 18-20 mpg range in town and the turning radius were better and it wasn't that boring fleet white, and my daughter weren't getting married in less than two months... I guess the real issue with me is the size... dang, that's a screaming deal with those tool boxes, headache rack, 100 gal fuel tank and pump, aftermarket seats... if I keep typing I may start driving south... ;) Jim, save me, buy it... ;) y'all get the popcorn out... thinking to just install the turbo Diesel into the tug with a dialed in suspension and I'll be happier... may keep the tug, just refine it a bit more... my wife hates my J10 and it's pretty long... that little 4' long box that is 5' wide seems to work well, just need a cover for it for when it rains. in other news, they're delaying first flight even longer... :( outsourcing does NOT work... but then again the anti-business climate of this state and the unions are directly responsible for that poor decision... I should avoid looking at Craigslist... all I do is tempt myself with options... :) if you come out Jim you'll have to come up and see the monster carport. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 23 Jun 2009, Jim Hoffman wrote: # So what's wrong with this F250 to make it only $4500?
