Maybe long term I could find a better Diesel for my J10. There's a lot of very affordable vehicles out there right now... :) so tempting... :) the specs on the '80 scout with the SD33T indicate 20/24 mpg, any idea what the '76-'79 scout was with the sD33? I'm getting a fairly solid 18 mpg overall with the tug... that's a solid 2 mpg better than I got with the 6.2 or 6.5. started looking at a variety of dimensions: wb length width weight est. mpg length in feet CJ10A 93.4 152.8 68.2 4,400 18.0 12.733 XJ 101.4 165.3 70.5 3,400 16.0 13.775 WJ 105.9 181.5 72.3 3,800 15.0 15.125 300D 124 110.0 186.6 68.5 3,600 28.0 15.550 SJ J10 118.8 194.0 78.9 4,100 15.0 16.167 Honda CRV 103.1 178.0 71.6 3,500 19.0 14.833 K1500 Blazer 111.5 187.7 76.4 6,000 15.0 15.642 Chevy XtndSbx 141.6 218.4 76.8 5,000 16.0 18.200 Chevy XtndLbx 155.5 237.1 76.8 5,000 16.0 19.758 Ford SprCbLB 158.0 247.6 79.7 5,942 20.633 Ford SprCbSB 141.8 231.4 79.7 5,712 19.283 john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 23 Jun 2009, Diana Eichert wrote: # John # # Early 914 had D-Jetronic analog computer controlled EFI, # http://www.rennlist.com/techarticles/djetronicfuel.htm # # later versions had L-Jetronic # # Hope you end up with one of the Isuzu diesels, much newer design than # the old Newer SD33 / SD33T. # # diana # # On Tue, 23 Jun 2009, john wrote: # SNIP # > I have worked on and driven a 914 with the 2.0L before... my boss at Intel # > had # > one... it was one fun little go kart. # > # > Yeah, for $800 I can't go wrong, can hide it in the carport so my wife # > doesn't find it... ;) # > # > have to duct tape my kid's mouth shut so he doesn't go off on about it... # > :) # > # > the guy claims it's a 1.8L and had fuel injection... huh, in '71??? I was in the inside lane so at some point I had to move over one lane to merge... we went into the right hander at somewhere between 45 and 50... I heard tires squealing, but not from the tug... from the benz... looked over and man did that thing have some body roll... he almost crossed over into traffic... very sloppy. ;) I guess this little tug does handle like it's on rails... starting to get over the initial fear of it because of how high I'm sitting... it took a bit of time, but learning how stable it is in the curves... I still haven't found the limits... and with the current engine, not likely to. :) With some lifted 4x4's you can feel the edge of the limit and it results in a pretty high pucker factor, but so far I haven't felt anything like that yet with this thing... the wagoneer sway bar is still in place and the weight is pretty low... nice wide stance... good tires... now all I need is more power. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 2009 18:35:02 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: emissions test my son tested his GW today, failed on CO - 7.8%, max 1.2% hydrocarbons were ok... around 122 max was 130. what needs to be done? it has no air pump, no cat converter, just the carb... we don't do visuals here, just tailpipe test. ;) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3364 **************************
