As a reward they gave him a budget, a lab, a tech (me) and free reign to figure out how to save more money. I didn't realize how cushy of a job I had, thought semiconducter business was very limited in growth job opportunities ( boy was I wrong!! ). So I interviewed and accepted an electronic test technician position at the Hillsboro facility. I never started the position, after traveling back to New Mexico over the XMas break I decided the hell with Oregon and moved back to NM. I grew up in Louisville, all we had were big window fans. It was hot and sweaty in the summer, but that's just the way it was.
