The head issue is easily fixed, even if you have to plane it. There are bronze head gasket shims that can be made to fit in different thicknesses. On the brakes, I was told the 12" drums for my J4000 were obsolete, but I found some for another vehicle and re-drilled them. There are some aftermarket guys doing the old military Jeep stuff as well. I'd check with them about brake parts. It's Dana 53 parts that are rare and an arm and a leg to get!
