It's easy enough to add one with an LED light circuit to many motors. That would allow you to adjust for other changes. RE: Hummm, any more specs on that set up? knock sensor off an XJ... then I guess we need to know the ohm value corresponding to the knock..... My old Mopar was set up with an in car timing adjustment that I did with a cable on the dash. RE: the citroen traction AV had it, I never bothered to look at it for the month I drove the car. I'll end up with two transmissions when I'm done... one TF727 with the round / SAE#4 bellhousing and the jeep tailshaft, and a Jeep TF727 case with a Scout Dana 20 output shaft... for sale... both trannies are good. Then on Friday I plan to head down to Centralia with the round one, drop it and the adapter pieces off, pick up the Scout T19/DAna 300 and then head down to Salem to test drive the SD33T that's still in the scout, and at the same time deliver the T19/D300 to a guy flying up from the bay area in California... :) one of my friends from the cj-10 list is sending the thin metal part up to centralia later this week. (thanx David!) The scout engine will get pulled and delivered to Centralia in a few weeks... (the guy has family up near Olympia and is happy to deliver it to curtis... gotta love these Diesel dreamin' adventures. so many friends, so many parts... it's pretty cool how complex the timing can get on piecing things together... gotta love the internet, cell phones and interstates... :) well, two days more until my daughter's wedding, I'm hiding up in the bedroom with the a/c on avoiding flowers... :) so far so good... all is going remarkably well. very happy that my sister in law was able to come and help. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Aug 2009 20:13:20 -0500 From: Zee Man Subject: fsj: IGNITION ISSUEs (not really FSJ RELATED BUT CLOSE) Hello, I find you guys give me the best answers always ... I have a couple tricky questions.. I have a Duraspark Ignition on a pre-duraspark car... 1977 gremlin For years it has worked well.. Lately my car has become an electrical basket case.. 1. With the ignition turned to the on position, not crank, both my red and green wires to positive side of the coil have different voltages.. the red wire has around 9v. The Green wire which i assume is from the 'I' terminal has 12+v. .. From what i have read shouldn't this green wire only be hot when the engine is cranking? I have been wondering why my car hasnt been wanting to go over 4000 RPM under load.. So i purchased Mallory TFI COIL 29209 and i was going to do the TFI upgrade myself.. ANyway this didnt fix my problem and 15 minutes later the ignition module is toasted.. After a near tow home i put the old coil back on and my spare ignition module.. Anyway my car still had a miss so i assumed the plugs got fowled.. I changed the plugs ... while i havent drove the car i decided to ohm out my old coilk(p/n 8202) this one seams out of specs now and will require replacement too (I ohmed it on the car but d/c'd all the wires..).. So now i am thinking TFI coil again but i am thinking maybe a need a ballast... Any recommendations on specs? Also my next plan is to maybe check the voltage regulator on my alternator(delco remy) hi output 6 cyl model) to see maybe i have too much voltage going out... Btw the plugs looked fairly normal,, considering i have had a ton of timing issues... i am thinking my (NEW rebuilt 401)Valves need to be adjusted and they are just too tight.. but since all my ignition modules have been pooping on me...lately i havent got around to it.. I also have about 30 more days with my gremlin before i ship it back to texas for storage.. and I go to Korea and Germany thanks Bob zabawa _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live: Make it easier for your friends to see what you^Rre up to on Facebook. http://windowslive.com/Campaign/SocialNetworking?ocid=PID23285::T:WLMTAGL:ON: WL:en-US:SI_SB_facebook:082009 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Aug 2009 22:12:36 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: fsj: IGNITION ISSUEs (not really FSJ RELATED BUT CLOSE) are you saying your gremlin has gremlins? :) how can you go to both Germany and Korea? :) as far as the voltage differences, isn't there a ballast resistor in there some where?
