Hey all, got Mark's instrument panel put in the truck today. Checked all the bulbs and replaced a few with #194. It appears there is not one for the 'Emergency Drive' spot. The woodgrain looks, um, fancy in a spartan interior. There was only one vacuum hose hooked to the vent rotary switch, so not sure what to do about that. But I did get the heater control cable tied down, it wasn't before, that explains a lot. There is a loose 3 terminal female spade connector behind the panel, I didn't see where that should go... Should be fun when I fire it up. - - Landon 79 J10 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Jan 2010 21:04:15 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: 1989 Jeep info - wj seats just looking through the Std Catalog of 4x4s. been doing some work on the '89 XJ Limited and found some interesting data: the 4dr Cherokee Limited was a model J78, with a list price of $24,958 !!! GVW 4,797, est. shipping weight 3,199. the '89 Grand Wagoneer listed at: $26,395 Started looking at inexpensive lift options for the xj... found a rubicon express for $259.95, spacers front, add-a-leafs rear, new shocks... from central 4wd... think I can do it for less... we'll see. getting the title straightened out tomorrow,hopefully... picked up a cheap Dual CD/HD receiever at Frys today... new windshield on Saturday... tires a week or two ago... not happy with the tires... the 4.0L has too much power for them... need to drive in full time 4wd to get traction. ;) will need to sort out a few more minor issues and it'll be ready as a daily driver/WVO hauler until Superdawg is done... going to cost me a lot more in fuel since it's a stinking gas rig and not a Diesel.... need my J10 done soon. Glad I picked up the same kind of leather seats from a 2door XJ for Superdawg, they're very comfortable... and I'll be able to get behind the seats in my J10 with them... worked out great... Guess I'll be selling my extra WJ leather seats and cloth seats... and a set of honda front seats... need space in my shop. I think I'm going to use the slightly lower quality leather seats I had in Omega for my '99 WJ because the heaters will likely work better and then sell the top quality ones. I think the ones I have are the Type I and are the pleated leather, the ones I picked up out of a WJ a while back are the Type II, flat bottom leather, but with lumbar support... also very comfortable. The Type I's I picked up a few years ago are in good shape but for some reason the heating elements don't always work well. I'll also have the cloth wJ seats out of my Laredo that I've been saving in case I sell it, but with 160k on the clock and no need for the leather seats for superdawg I guess I can part with the cloth ones too. The '89 xj is pretty nice, but I doubt it will replace our '99 WJ... so I'll have to part with it when SuperDawg is done... we're getting more serious about moving into a townhouse/condo so I need to get down to two vehicles... superdawg and either the benz or the wj... we'll see... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 Jan 2010 00:32:23 -0500 From: wallacem7-at-aol.com Subject: fsj: Wagoneer paint Colors Check out www.autocolorlibrary.com for paint codes...also paint samples are typically in the origional factory sales brochures (which also include pictures where they ladies have Farah Faucett hair in front of their country estates who would likely itch for a week if they rode in my wagoneer) Also your local paint jobber will have the books and be able to look up the color. This was maybe about 2005. Some years ago (like in the 1990's before life got in the way I was looking at painting my Wag (at the time I was restoring and painting cars for a living) and I seem to recall that I was looking at about $1000 in materials.
