Same basic internals but with beefed up bearings and such... the cases are not interchangeable, found out about that the hard way... seems the RV case has bearings the Jeep version doesn't... the Jeep version of the TF727 is one of the sorriest excuses for a slushbox I can think of... I grew up in the '60s and learned to respect Chrysler/MOPAR elephant power, and that transmission... but after replacing two of them in Jeeps I no longer hold it in anything but contempt... however, THAT 727 is worthy of respect... have also heard it referred to as a Big Block version, either way, it's good. The transfer case will be jeep... the CJ-10A used a modified NP208, but any 23 spline xfr case intended for a full size jeep will work. Current plan is to use my NP208. I used up one of my NP219s in Omega, I think I have one more down in Centralia... they're fine xfr cases, but plan to use the NP208. I don't care for the NP228/NP229s... Curtis was thinking that the driveshafts will have to be modified and I think he may be right, superdawg had a T-5 before, and going to an automatic requires a longer front driveshaft... I'm thinking that the RV/tf727 and the jeep TF727 are the same length, trying to see if I have pictures of the two together... should, but found these: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1986-CJ10A/2009_May_12-shift-kit-n-NP208-trans-shop/ALL.html looks like the two 727s are the same length with the adapter: http://fotomeister.us/2009/10-Oct-03-Centralia-SD33T-superdawg-tug/SD33T-tf727/ALL.html especially: http://fotomeister.us/2009/10-Oct-03-Centralia-SD33T-superdawg-tug/SD33T-tf727/JEM_4847_2009_10_03.jpg http://fotomeister.us/2009/10-Oct-03-Centralia-SD33T-superdawg-tug/tf727-np229/JEM_4858_2009_10_03.jpg http://fotomeister.us/2009/10-Oct-03-Centralia-SD33T-superdawg-tug/tf727-np229/P1100973_2009_10_03.jpg so, bottom line: SD33T/Rv-TF727/NP208 - D44s - 3.54 gears - 235/75R15 - (same ratios and size as the scouts.. 20/24 mpg epa rated.) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 27 Apr 2010, Michel Balea wrote: # Good, # # Now we need a refresher, which trany and TC are/will be attached to the SD33? # # Michel # # > Date: Mon, 26 Apr 2010 20:31:13 -0700 # > From: john-at-wagoneers.com # > To: proj96xj-at-insightbb.com # > CC: fsj-at-digest.net # > Subject: Re: fsj: Re: progress on superdawg # > # > yeah, I think two of them were j10s I gave curtis # > as part of the deal. :) one was the donor for # > the axle, and gave him a 4.2 for a NT cherokee he was building. # > # > I've almost got all the a/c stuff to get my rabbit setup... it's # > still going to be a bit before the dawg is altogether... however, # > if curtis' health continues to improve a concentrated effort # > could have it done in a few weeks...
