As i said I would i have sandblasted the frame from the A-pillar body mounts back and have started brushing on my Rust Oleum Primer. If resources were unlimited I would have pulled the body and powder coated the frame, but that's not an option right now. All in all the frame appears to be pretty solid. A lot of surface rust and some scale, but i am finding clean, thick metal once the scale has been blasted off. So it's basically finish painting the frame, I'll paint the rear axle as well and then I get to assemble it. I still need to flare the new brake line. So that being said I ordered some new shackle bushings from BJ's. I'll blast the shackles, but does anybody have a good idea on pressing out the old shackle bushings and pressing in the new ones? Is this a job for Superman? Should I fight with them myself or just take them to the machine shop and do the job with the checkbook? Depending on how my work week goes maybe I get it back together and drive it in a few days. (and tuck it out of the way and paint my MG) Mark Wallace 81 Wag ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 2010 12:49:36 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: fsj: Fw: Volkswagen camper van marks 60 years of production (fwd) this is one of those brilliant moments in automotive history... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8704175.stm I actually had one of these for a brief time, I think I was going to turn it into a trailer, but someone bought it from me before I could do it harm.... as long as you're not stuck behind on in traffic facing a hill, they are very cool rigs... not exactly the safest vehicle on the road... but then again, are most little cars? john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: - ------Original Message------ From: David P Ashby Subject: Volkswagen camper van marks 60 years of production Sent: Jun 2, 2010 11:46 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8704175.stm David ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 2010 23:33:01 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: fsj: I guess this is why they need some of these new laws... guess they need all these new laws because common sense went AWOL... some people simply need to get a clue... look at the picture, he hit this guy square on... http://www.komonews.com/news/local/95384659.html holding a phone to talk instead of using a headset is really dumb, but texting??? what was this kid thinking? ...in my day this wouldn't have happened because the typewriter wouldn't have fit between me and the steering wheel... and the paper likely would have blocked my view... of course we had our own stupid stunts, but they were already illegal, and it was only a misdemeanor to out run a cop. ;) gas was cheaper too... ;) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3585 **************************
