Sent: Aug 17, 2010 21:56 Does anybody know if the "Last Wagoneer" is still at Harrah's museum in Reno? I am heading in that direction for a wedding in about two weeks and if it is still there it seems as if I should pay my respects. When I was at Chrysler they had a retirement party for the XJ Cherokee where they had the first production XJ to go off the line and a very late production Grand Wagoneer that probably had about ten miles on it. I have some consistently pinging during acceleration w the 85. Only the passenger are hearing it because of the high pitch. So yesterday I decided to plainly disconnect the distributor hose by plugging it w an allen wrench. Pinging stopped so was the very nice acceleration. After 10 miles the engine stopped as I was passing the golden gate toll booth, but managed to coast to the right side, the security crew spotted the lifted hood, while I removed the allen wrench, but it did not restart, and the tow truck was right there within 2 minutes, after a push to the right side, and 2 gallons of gas.... the beast restarted. After gas refill, it was obvious that gas was not the issue. Not remembering which way to turn the allen wrench in the distributor canister, I googled an answer: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techarticles/mump_0904_how_to_rebuild__autolite _motorcraft_distributors/assembly.html In short, the adjustment is tightening of loosening the tension of a spring, Clockwise to tighten the spring tension, increasing the resistance that the vacuum has to fight to advance the ignition. Will report after experimenting. Michel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 2010 10:26:10 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: fsj: The Last Wagoneer? Probably 3-5 years ago. I have never heard where the Last Grand Wag. went after it was sold. To my knowledge it has not appeared again in any public collection. That would lead me to believe it was likely purchased by a private collector. I was shocked they ever sold it in the first place. I do know one volunteer and the Chairman of the Board at the Museum. I could ask? The Jerrari is still there. I was there for an event and saw it about a month ago. Michael Baxter - --- On Wed, 8/18/10, john wrote: From: john Subject: Re: fsj: The Last Wagoneer? I actually fit TWO cars in!!!! I'm still in unbelief. Although, looking at the situation, if I remove the old shelves from the front wall, move the Diesel generator over along the front wall with the vertical cabinet, then move my toolboxes against the south wall... I think I might be able to get the 300D in with room to spare. Will be able to pull the TDI in far enough to keep the windshield clear... that would be three vehicles... it could happen... really... :) here's proof... http://johnmeister.com/DIESELS/tech/shop-office-aug-2010/ALL.html I will have to make more room to get my J10 in to the carport... it's not going to sit outside, and neither is the WJ... and if I'm still driving the Jetta it'll need to have it's nose under cover, hate trying to clear fog off of windshields. :) I don't think I could get the 300D in with the Jeeps unless it's dismantled... ;) Actually drove the 300D this weekend... man, do I love the Jetta... :) Also drove the WJ last weekend... love it as well. However, my wife likes the 300D so it'll be around for a while, it's an economical runabout for her. hope y'all had a nice weekend. not sure when my J10 will be back, haven't heard anything from curtis for a while... last report was the drivetrain was in the chassis and he was going to fit the body next... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3617 **************************
