Has anybody else had trouble with the De-Walt cut off wheels for 4 1/2 inch grinders blowing apart? Here is the latest...I finally got around to trying my hand at some more challenging metal forming projects. I dragged home a great big piece of heavy - - non-corregated cardboard from work that's easy to cut into patterns. I cut myself a pattern (easier said than done...I was going off of pictures and it took three tries to get it right. ) Then I took the pattern apart and traced it onto a hardboard surface. I have some old hardboard kicking around because that's the surface on my workbench and I replace it about once a year. It gets full of oil and paint and so on. I then carved the hardboard template with the belt sander. After that with some double sided tape I made two dies on the router table out of some birch plywood. Couple of clamps and some quality time with the body hammers got the parts pretty close, a little more time with the body dollies got them closer...a little bit of trimming and welding and grinding got them the rest of the way. I just did a few simple brackets to learn how to do it, But it looks like I can translate this to making some new floors for the Wag. Also on schedule for the Wag is replacing the left quarter panel. I have a good one that I cut off a parts car over a decade ago. Now I will finally get it on there. If curtis could paint the parts as they are right now then I'll head down and help him put the cab and the bed on the chassis and drag it all home and finish the rest. Coming up on 10 years, I think he's had enough time... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 7 Nov 2010, Mark Wallace wrote: # Anybody else getting into the winter projects? # ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 2010 00:10:51 -0800 From: Jim Blair Subject: fsj: '71 Wagoneer with Buick 350/TH400/D20 (not mine!) http://www.nw-wheelers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56753 Written laws are like spiders' webs, and will like them only Entangle and hold the poor and weak, while the rich and powerful will easily break through them ANACHARSIS Scythian philosopher (fl. 600 BC) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 2010 08:50:55 -0800 From: Jim Blair Subject: RE: fsj: '71 Wagoneer with Buick 350/TH400/D20 (not mine!) He's in Clarksburg, WV vicinity and wants to get $600 for the motor. The truck has issues with rust as expected and isn't pretty on the outside and will likely go to scrap, but the interior is unbelievable. Gauges are still in it and are an 8 on the 10 scale, entire dash is really perfect, pad uncracked, carpeting looks fantastic, all the A/C plastic panels, etc under the dash look like new, etc. All the interior lighting works, etc. I got the seats / door panels out of it as they are SOOO much better than the ones in mine. Carpet will come to me next time that he comes this direction. Even the grille in this thing was in great shape. Yes I confiscated that too along with various other bits and pieces. The truck only has 104k on the clock and it's legit. This motor ran good and was used around his shop yard before I got the Xfercase & tranny. Axles are still under it. 12spoke OEM Wagon wheels still there (I confiscated the center caps). All the glass is good. Back window does NOT function but is intact. Anyone interested just lemme know and I'll pass his info along. JeepNut - ---------------------------------------------------------- '92 Cherokee Laredo, bought new, an heirloom.
