I'm running into a number of unexpected expenses and am giving second thoughts to developing the '83 Cherokee as a project... I am committed to buying it, told the guy I would, it's off of CL, and I will follow through, he has my word on it. Have the money in hand and plan on going down on the 27th to get it... ...but, if anyone in the area is interested and has the resources to really do it right, I'll let you have it for what the guy is selling it to me for... it's a bargain at $500, no rust... not sure the engine is bad, but let's assume it is... it has a new TF727 trans and NP228 xfr case, think it has decent tires... it needs a headliner, carpet kit, a/c fixed and possibly an engine... but I'm thinking that the engine may be something minor, the guy isn't a mechanic and is facing some steep medical bills... I've actually offered to take a look and help him fix it, haven't heard from him on that yet. I'd rather he keep it if it's not going to be a big issue for him... he loves the Jeep and is not in a hurry for it to go. He was diagnosed with chron's disease this year... http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1983-CherokeeChief/ALL.html let me know... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Dec 2010 21:26:39 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: Re: OT: Dodge Ramcharger the only changes to the 1984 model of the Ramcharger was the new Prospector Package option... there were 28,551 sold, base price was $10,945, the Royal SE Package was $1091. the Standard Catalog of 4x4's doesn't list the price for the Prospector package... but it looks like it included some convenience item and some decals. Likely the Silver State edition was a different set of decals and maybe some placards or emblems... they were all the AW100 Ramcharger, just those add on decals and trim options... Jeep did stuff like this as well, Golden Eagles, Sporttruck, Honcho... yeah, they were more rare, but you can get the decals, sometimes... but as far as a collectible truck??? with 28,551 produced in 1984 I'd say not likely... the '83 Cherokee Chief, model 17, Wide track was the last year... model 17, cost $12,022 in '83 for the base WT 2dr model... out of all of the Cherokees they only made 4,165 of them... and they are way cooler and more collectible than a Dodge ramcharger... and sell running for less than $2k... in nice condition... my '83 J10 stepside was likely one of about 1,400... total J trucks in '83 was 4,261. so, from a used perspective you'd likely add 10% to the value of the blue book for the ramcharger, unless you can find a dealership in nevada that can point out why it's worth more or offer more... fred from the dieselbenz list has a nice, perfect, low mileage, '80s vintage ramcharger that he picked up, rust free for around $1800 a few years ago... the thing was absolutely mint... so if this guy is claiming extensive damage it could be that his truck wasn't very strong... ;) tell him he should have invested in a jeep... (well, maybe you shouldn't... ;) john On 12/20/2010 9:08 PM, Jerry Kaidor wrote: > Hi guys, > > And now for something completely different. Today a tree fell down at > my property in Fresno. Often, I think the problem for stuff like that is it's so obscure, the people who would be willing to pay what it's probably worth... don't know it exists or don't happen to be looking for it at the moment it's being sold. (And the obscurity means it doesn't get a lot of widespread publicity.) I think even the Jerarri suffered from that, and it seems to be fairly well-known in FSJ circles. ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3666 **************************
