You can adjust it by loosing the bolts holding it to the hood and moving the assembly around to line up with the dovetail assembly (plungers) located on the radiator support. lubrication is always a good idea... :) there is a hood bumper adjusting bolt to either side of the dovetail assembly that goes into the locking mechanism... also there is a spring located on the "safety" catch, or should be... WILLYS was the company name. J-trucks were the line. Included the Wagoneer and Jxxx models. In March 1963, Henry J. Kaiser changed the name from Willys to Kaiser-Jeep. In January 1970 Jim Blair's beloved AMC corporation buys Jeep and renames it Jeep Corporation. In 1987 Chrysler buys Jeep and Eagle from AMC. Kaiser was bought lock stock and barrel by AMC after GM backed out of a potential deal with them, because of a lack of gov't orders (but still sold them the Buick 350 V8 motors and the V6 engine casting and rights, that AMC fixed the problems on, and then sold back to GM after they bought Jeep, which they put in the Citations, etc). Canadian models also got the Rambler 343 motor (my ex-wife's father had one) The early automatics were Borg-Warners, not TH400's, but many were retro-adapted, because the BWs were junk! I'd like to get one of the plainsmen Jeeps from S. America. Like a CJ 10 with Nissan diesel! However, the 327 is a Kaiser, not an AMC. AMC took over Jeep in January 1970, the 327's were only installed between 1965 and 1968. I'm also copying this to the FSJ (full size Jeep) list as they will be interested and may even be able to help you.
