Riess" asked: > someone on the list mentioned the odd-fire 231, but a > friend of mine said they are nothing but trouble. What > is the difference between an even and an odd-fire V6? The old Willys MB that I owned from 1981 until last May had an odd-fire 225V-6 since about 1978, and that motor never exhibited any trouble. The physical differences between the odd-fire V-6 and the even-fire V-6 are in the distributor, camshaft, and crankshaft. The even-fire V-6 has a constant 120 crankshaft degrees between cylinder timings, whereas the odd-fire V-6 alternates cylinder timings of 90 crankshaft degrees with 150 crankshaft degrees. The only difference in performance is that the odd-fire engine produces more vibration than the even-fire engine. ++ Cornel Ormsby ++ even odds in Las Vegas ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 15:59:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Carnuck-at-webtv.net (James Blair) Subject: fsj: FSJ spotting I just spotted a J-motorhome! (well, folks from Boston, Texas, CA and HA have come by to wheel too... :) Paul envisions us wheeling once a month and adopting a trail... that means running it twice a year - once to open, once to clean it up... I'll be posting the proposed by laws on Wagoneers.com soon. We'd like to get this club setup in 1999. We've got to lay out some bucks to make it happen, but we're not talking large amounts of cash... something like $60... split equally... :) $25 to join the PNW4wda, another $30 to register the club.
