It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened! But that would also mean that jeep would need to come up with some 21 spline inputs for the 208/219 (probably they would just order them from NP). Another possibility would be there was some sort of supply problem with the 23 spline shaft (who know why that would happen?) and jeep took delivery of some 21 spline transmissions and ordered 21 spline t-cases accordingly? Note that these wouldn't be transmissions destined for IH, they would be the jeep version just with the IH output shaft. I know the 727 output shaft used by scout was for the D20 and D300. In both the D20 and the Scout version of the D300, there is a gear that mounts on the output shaft and stays with the transmission, not the t-case (just like FSJ TH400s with D20s). That means that the output shaft for IH 727s has some means of retaining the gear on the shaft -- either a nut or a snap ring. Would one of these shafts still work as input to a NP208/219 where the gear is part of the t-case and the shaft just slips in? I'm guessing it would, espicially if scout used a snap ring to retain the gear. IH may have used different configurations of the 727 output in different rigs with differnt t-cases, and if so ignore what I said above! - -brad Jim writes: > You would have to get them from International.
