Keep the faith. > I'm outta here they call me 5150 Mike SEE YA!!!! cool. It was a pleasure to help him out. My family thought I was nuts. I figured he only needed just a bit of help to get rolling... :) Because of that story Chrysler sent a crew out to video tape me for the 1998 Camp Jeep Dealer Business Meeting and for the 1999 WJ launch. :) They selected 8 Jeep owners. Old Blue and I were one of 'em. :) I've done a lot of cross country driving. I know how hard you work! I've been coast to coast many times... all seasons... My folks live in Orlando, my inlaws in South Dakota... :) I grew up in Illinois... Was stationed in Georgia, South Carolina, New Jersey and Germany... :) Got out of the Army and moved to Oregon... :) Tell ya what though, the truckers from British Columbia give y'all a bad name in the Seattle area though... I watched a BC trucker run up over the speed limit down an exit only lane, then cut back over and bounce this gal in a Hyuandi across three lanes into a Chevy van and a guardrail... His remark when he got out... " I had my turn signal on... " During the follow up insurance interviews I found out he had been cited for reckless driving. In the same stretch of I-5 I almost got creamed by another BC trucker... these guys are bad news north of Seattle on I-5. They're almost as bad as Belgian truckers on the Autobahn... only difference is the Belgian truckers will pull out in front of you in the fast lane and they'll be doing 35 mph!!!! I almost smeared myself on the back of more than one of 'em. :) I was driving a light truck for the Army up the Autobahn heading to Frankfurt one time and watched on of those Belgian truckers pull out in front of a 700 series Beemer that was really cruisin'... When the BMW sedan went past my truck there were flames coming out of the driver, and his tailpipe... :) Ya gotta love those German sedans with 4 wheel disc brakes... he stopped in time. :) (I drive my 81 300D every day to work... it stops a whole lot faster than it goes... :) Well, thanx for the note, you keep the dirty side down... no wait, the greasy side down... Us 4x4 types get confused... usually the dirty side is the side we want up... :) Hey, I just found an 84 J10 down in Houston, Texas... you know anyone that could haul it up to Seattle cheap for me? It's a runner, so it shouldn't be a problem getting it on a trailer. I don't have the time I can take off work to drive it home... Besides that it gets about 12 mpg and would cost $300 in gas to get it here... :) Let me know. :) ttyl, john - ---------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.freegift.net/ - ---------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 22:22:48 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: fsj: drive a Texas J10 to Seattle anyone? If we can get this thing up to Kansas City, KS... My inlaws are up in Mitchell, South Dakota... KC is about 8 hrs or so south... Better yet... I could fly into KC, pick it up there and drive up to Mitchell... wait... Pickups, two people... problem... family=4 people.. oh, wait, daughter is in college, son in high school... oh, wait... john has to work... :( Mitchell is still 3 days from Seattle... close... we'll keep figuring somethign out... :) BTW, a trucker saw my page and emailed me... :) I emailed him back and at the end asked if he knew of any truckers that could haul a J10 up here... my guess is he might. Fuel cost to drive it will be about $300... I saw quotes of $700 or so for the Panel from LA to SEattle... Houston is a bit further... :) john - ------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please! ON the J10: A trucker wrote: John, I ran the miles from Houston to Seattle in my mileage program,,,, I'm afraid the cost may surprise you. The miles I show from Houston to Seattle are 2,446m,, at a very cheap rate of $1.10 per mile that is $2,690.60,,,,, So... :) In the little nickel I saw a 90 GW for about $5900. So I had to check it out... It was almost exactly like Old Blue, only with really bad paint... :( The interior was pretty decent, motor ran good, exhaust leak... Suspension needs help. 98K on the clock... rear window screwed up of course... It was on a used car lot and the guy wasn't even interested in Fritz or my 77 wagoneer... And I'm not interested in selling Fritz... nor am I interested in going 6K into a hole that needs a paintjob... :) I may be going down to Oregon this weekend to pickup a Mercedes 300SD for $350... it quit running, no idea what's wrong... I figure I'll have another tranny for Fritz, and maybe a Turbo Diesel engine for him... :) One of my friends down there said the guy didn't even try to figure out why it quit... interior is weathered, paint faded and body dinged... Hey... I'll have to check the wheelbase... That body would look awesome on a Wagoneer Chassis and give me full legal rights to a DIESEL!!! There is still the J10 in California... Got three people either interested or coming to look at the 77 WAgoneer... Ben if he can convince his wife and get it out of the driveway... tom, if he ever returns my call and one other guy from bellingham... Crazy thought... I'm gonna check on the cost of putting one of those canvas roof things that you can open up... You know what I mean, like the Citroen ugly ducklings had... :) Would that be cool or what? Talk about open air comfort... :) Gonna fire up the Sawzall... :) I need to go to bed... I think I'm bordering on delirium... Mercedes on the WAgoneer chassis... cutting the roof off and making it like an ugly little french car... :) gonna have some interesting dreams tonight... A 300SD on a Wagoneer chassis, Diesel powered... dual tanks... :) say good night john. ttyl, john - ------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please!
