Now you're all set up for some desert dogging! I bought the Dunlop A/T 32x11.50 tires on the White Rhino as a compromise between cost ($460), clearance when towing, and coping with the off-road sand in Nevada and Utah. ++ Cornel Ormsby ++ http://members.aol.com/OrigamiTB/WhRhino.htm ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2000 11:55:07 -0600 From: Dan Black Subject: fsj: Jeep specs I put together a table based on info from Carpoint. It compares several models of Jeeps, side-by-side -- performance, size, options, etc. First, a disclaimer: Don't treat this as an end-all authority on the Jeeps listed. It's compiled from Carpoint, and if you've done much looking around there, you'll know all their stuff isn't completely accurate. In fact, I corrected a few things as I went -- one glaring error that I remember, and a few misleading labels. I also took the liberty of adapting a few things so I wouldn't have to list every trim package -- I was gearing this toward standard vehicles. Most of the fields for the non-FSJs assume an automatic transmission, the 4.0 I6, 4wd, and for the Cherokees, four doors. It's mainly useful as a pretty-close comparison, not something to use as proof in an argument over tiny details. Having said that, hope you find it useful. I put it together mainly to compare the FSJ, the new and old Grand Cherokees, the new and old Cherokees, and the Wranglers, all at once. Maximize your browser window, print it landscape, whatever. :) If you have questions about what I used in a certain place, ask, and I _may_ remember. If you have any corrections that you absolutely positively know are wrong on the sheet and you have the correct answer, let me know. These are the models compared: Grand Wagoneer, 1988 (a couple 1991 differences are in square brackets) Grand Cherokee, 1999 Grand Cherokee, 1999 (4.7L Limited) Grand Cherokee, 1998 ("old") Cherokee, 1999 Cherokee, 1996 ("old") Wrangler, 1999 Now I suppose you want the URL. Weellll... ok. http://www.public.iastate.edu/~dsblack/misc/Jeep-specs.html Note that it's almost entirely Javascripted, so you have to have that turned on. I did that because it made the file about 8K instead of closer to 80K -- and makes it easier to update. Enjoy! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2000 12:58:39 -0500 From: "B.
