Seems the hood on the Rez Runner is sprung or something 'cause the back edge has a tendency to rub the little tubes that squirt washer fluid on the windshield. Rubbed one of them into two pieces. I put a small rubber tube on it as a fix but now the hood (in the cold weather) has crimped that down. I dropped into lurk mode over a year ago due to life being way too hectic. Since then I've settled down a bit and finally switched over to the "real time" list instead of just deleting the digests without reading. Hopefully when life reaches a normal pace, I can actually contribute a bit. A few of you may remember me, I've been on the list since the old days when Kevin Highsmith was listmom in January of 1996. It was the good folks on the original FSJ-List that convinced me to buy one of these beasts. Now I look back and think "What have I done?!?" I may not be a complete FSJ-aholic, since I have only one, but I do drool every time I see a sweet J-Truck. And I've spent more on this FSJ than on my wife's new kitchen. Also, I've had the same FSJ for 4 years now, a rarity it would seem (in snowhomish anyway ;o) See y'all around. I believe the biggest changes over the years that drove the engine output down was the valve timing. Early models with the higher outputs had the valve timing set for maximum engine output. Unfortunately, this resulted in unburned fuel escaping out the exhaust. This in turn caused poor fuel economy and more pollution. I think this occurred during the early to mid '70s when we first encountered fuel scarcity. Some people were waiting in hour long lines just to get gas, hopping the station wouldn't run out. This started the big push for better fuel economy. You notice this more in the "sports" cars of that time period when looking over output of similar engines from year to year.
