Not just a decent mechanic, but someone you can trust. Luckily a friend of mine (Best Man at my wedding) manages a Firestone Store. (I know, some people had bad experiences with chain stores.) He used to think that I took my vehicles to him because he could get me a decent deal on things. Then I explained to him that the real reason I brought vehicles to him was because I could trust him not to use any incompetent mechanics and that he wouldn't cheat me or my wife. (his wife was my wife's Maid of Honor) I know it's getting so cute you're ready to puke. Anyway, my point is to find a good honest mechanic and stick with them....... It's almost like looking for a doctor! Is there a referral service for mechanics?? But do a reality check from time to time, sometimes even friends aren't totally aware of what's going on elsewhere. By doing a little research and finding out that billybob's offers such and such a deal might just cause your friend to give an additional discount. :) john At 04:45 PM 3/13/00 -0600, Jamie.L.Phillips-at-us.ul.com wrote: >john wrote: > >>try putting the old plugs back in... the ones that were in it >>when you bought it... plugs should last at least 30,000 miles these >>days... Despite what you may have been told by your mother, praying and cursing are both helpful in home repair but only if you are working alone. 4. Work in the kitchen whenever you can many fine tools are there, its warm and dry and you are close to the refrigerator. 5. If it's electronic, get a new one or consult a twelve-year-old. 6.
