There are 2 bolt patterns to the stock AMC 4 bbl and it should be a Motorcraft, not Holley stock, althouh there is a hard to find replacement made by Holley. One pattern is common, and the other is hard to get a replacement for. I personally would go to a Holley 4di throttle body fuel injection conversion kit on the V8. It's commonly getting 14 mpg from the V8s from the people that have done it. Sure beats 8 mpg average with the carb! (I have a 6 cyl that used to get 20 mpg, but I ran out of oil and now it's dropped to 17! :^( I'm pulling my motor out this morning to take the crank and rods to Canada for my 4.6L stroker build up) John Jacobs wrote: If you have the 360, then your best bet for a new intake is the Edelbrock performer ( http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/man_amc.html ). The torker is probably too high reving for most FSJs. I don't think the Offenhauser intake is available anymore, and I think it was also a high rever. Most people that have gone to the Edelbrock have increased power, but probably no extraordinary mileage gains. The big gains are probably when a person goes from a poorly tuned stock setup to a properly tuned aftermarket setup. I would guess that a properly tuned stock setup to properly tuned aftermarket setup would not yield much, if anything. Is yours a stock 2 or 4 barrel? - --- Flierjon-at-aol.com wrote: Can anyone tell me if there are any peculiarities or difficulties with an intake manifold change on an 83 wagoneer? Can I expect any performance or mileage gains? Will a Holley carb on the stock manifold fit an aftermarket manifold? Does anyone suggest any manufacturers in particular? Last weekend I got on a train for NYC to check out a really cheap '90 GW in Brooklyn which didn't meet reserve on eBay. Despite needing a fuel pump and some other miscellany, it made it home last night for the price of $2700. No rust, very minor dripping (none from the rear main, anyway; used 1/10 of a quart of oil in 450 miles) good leather, paint acceptable, 134k miles. Hence, my '84 GW needs to go. 152k miles, see it on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=317504323 I may need a Class III/IV hitch and wiring harness assy; the vehicle has a class I and has the tranny cooler so we're set for cooling. Nice to be back. ___________________________________________________ Cheers- William "Chip" Lamb West of Sweden SAAB Charles City, VA. http://www.wmsbrg.com/sweden/ ___________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Apr 2000 13:50:44 EDT From: RMSquaredJeeps-at-aol.com Subject: fsj: REPLACEMENT WHEEL QUESTION Does anyone here know if any later model OEM Jeep 5-bolt wheels from the Wrangler, XJ or ZJ share the same bolt pattern as my 1969 Jeep Super Wagoneer? While I get my original mag-style hubcaps restored, I thought I'd look into putting a set of late model Jeep OE-style wheels on my rig as a second wheel/tire combo, quite possibly for times when I go backwoods exploring.
