I would have rebuilt the transmission myself and used duct tape, jb weld and copious amounts of silicon sealant first... no, I am no fool... I have never given money to inferior franchise outlets unless I first verified their competence or knew the folks or had no other alternative short of walking.... there is a superb indy here in Lynnwood, father and son - Dave's transmission service... massive kudos to both SR & Jr. greatest respect anyone could have for any mechanic or shop... I am only dealing with aamco because the PO didn't know any better, he only has a PhD... but he learned his lesson... ;) what's really kind of sad/ironic/disgusting all at once is that both he and I thought that he had the transmission rebuilt... nope... I talked to the tech who tried to convince me that the transmission was shifting (flaring sort of) like that because of a shift kit... shift kits are desireable, like them, they help transmissions.... this one was clearly NOT acting like any I've ever experienced in the last 35 years... so he fessed up... yeah, when I got the trans in the shop I put a shift kit in it and some additive... for $2000... say what??? what person who claims to be an automatic transmission rebuilder would put a shift kit and additive in a transmission that is notoriously troubled???? so, the interim manager has ordered a new valve body and it was being installed this afternoon... maybe tomorrow... when it's proven to be working ok I'll take it to Dave's Transmission Service in Lynnwood and get it switched over to Amsoil synthetic ATF. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Thu, 21 Jul 2011, Greg Fiorentino wrote: # I was a little surprised at your choice of a trans shop when I had seen it # earlier.
