When I started wagoneers.com it was on linux, and has been on suse since about 1998. I've been teaching UNIX since about 1994. Mostly linux classes since about 2002. love the classes where the students want to to try various flavors... one class had 12 different distros... then we'd get them all talking together... was fun... not sure why jim is having problems... the live cd's often embed the install in windows... in his case that's a bad idea... Linux is playing nice with a bully and needs to slap its little webbed feet and bounce the evil empire off of jim's system... but if you don't understand how to use fdisk or about partitions it can be a bit advanced... microsoft has purposely obscurred and "protected" its users from such powerful tools. speaking of powerful tools... noticed FSJs on Dr. Who and a couple other recent shows on SyFy. ;) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 28 Aug 2011, Ernesto Silva wrote: # I wish I could help you guys, I've been using and managing linux desktops # and server for the last 15 years, but I'm about 5000 miles away. # # Anyway I can tell you that having Linux installed and working in you laptop # can be very easy or very difficult, it depends on de distro and the # hardware. # # I recommend Ubuntu 10.04 LTS or Ubuntu 11.04.
