I just missed out on a Datsun LD28 motor complete for cheap (I even found a 4 speed O/D auto to go with it) because I was digging up more info before jumping on it. In the process I tripped over another diesel swap (maybe). Isuzu Troopers '88 to '91 with 2.6L 4 cyl use the A340H trans (same as the AW4 in Jeeps) IF the bell and flexplate, etc swaps to the diesel version (I see the RWD 2.2L turbo pup motors for sale a lot and they are cheap) If I go ahead with a diesel swap in my spare Comanche, I'll be looking at a UD (Nissan) RD28T from Canada and the trans I found for the LD28 I found a non-turbo Toyota diesel, but I think it's a gutless L motor (I'd sooner find a 2LT or 3L or 5L) Jim Blair, Lynnwood, WA '87 Comanche, '83 Jeep J10, '84 Jeep J10 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Nov 2011 21:14:11 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: [CJ-10List] Re: CJ10A but the TF727 used in the tug is also used in IH and in big block RV apps, right? the shop had no problem with the TF727 I got from a guy that had a bunch of scout stuff, and with the adapter it bolted right up to the SD33T... question is, is this the same transmission that's in the tug (in my J10) or is it a scout unit??? http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/SuperDawg/2011_August_7-frame-done-engine-in-bodypai nting/JM7_2049_2011-08-07.jpg http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/SuperDawg/2011_August_7-frame-done-engine-in-bodypai nting/ALL.html john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 8 Nov 2011, Scott Hyde wrote: # The 727 in the tug has a big block MOPAR bolt pattern not the SAE#4 pattern. The SAE#4 pattern is the round manual transmission pattern like used on the Scouts.
