Anyway, in my country these are very rare vehicles and I don't believe I can find any parts (not new nor used) to make any convertion. In the future perhaps I can find some shop that can import any part from the US. Regards, Ernesto. I can't imagine why someone designed a cylindrical nut, he must be nuts. I think it's a very bad design to disassembly the drum so I can rebuild the brakes, a part of the mechanics that needs frequent repair. Anyway, the right front brake is OK, I still have to disassembly the left side, if that one is OK then I'll try the rear ones. I don't like those either because of the drums fixed in the conical shafts, old and hard to disassembly design too. Ohh, sorry, I didn't mentioned the brakes problem, well, there is a leak somewhere, I must refill half of the main cylinder every 2 or 3 days, I check it everyday I use the truck. The curious thing is that there are no bubbles on the system, the pedal feels right. I'll report to you later.... Ernesto. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2012 11:22:58 -0800 From: Jim Blair Subject: RE: fsj: 63' Wag front wheel disassembly Sounds like the master cyl is leaking into the cab? Or the line from the front to back is rusted out. Don't the drums come loose from the hub? Got a pic of inside the back of the drum/hub? On my '73 I just hit the WMS (wheel mounting surface) and not the outer corner or braking surface to knock them loose from the rust around the middle. Better change the back seals to keep gear oil out of your front brakes! > Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2012 15:51:01 -0200 > Subject: Re: fsj: 63' Wag front wheel disassembly > From: erniesilva-at-gmail.com > To: carnuck-at-hotmail.com > CC: fsj-at-digest.net > > I finally did it, I took apart the 2 (really) small screws and with a cold > chisel I managed to unscrew the weird cylindrical nut and continued till I > took away the drum. > I can't imagine why someone designed a cylindrical nut, he must be nuts. Id love to find one. I sure can ask about the parts you want too, its worth a try for a better price. # What canvas top do you mean....are they generic, because if their not i doubt they would have one for a j10. My box is already rusty so i am kind of looking for a rust free box and tailgate for replacements. Look on craigslist Spokane / j10 and one is for sale out of Montana. # # # Dave # # ----- Original Message ----- # From: "john" < fullsizejeeps -at- gmail .com> # Sent: Sunday, January 8, 2012 12:30:26 PM # Subject: Re: Jeep J10 pickup # # My liftgate needs a new strut and it's showing signs of age, if you could ask how much for a new frame for the back glass, struts and the side window seals, maybe by both of ordering something we can get the prices down a bit. I'll snap some pictures and put them on my server so you can see what it looks like. # # You might consider a newer fiberglass style canopy. I think a canvas/convertible style cover would be much better. Taking the canopy on and off to load dirt/gravel/tall objects has caused most of the wear and tear. # # Having the bed covered helps keep the bed in good shape though. I called and talked to the local Leer dealer and they will have to check if the factory still has the custom parts to put one together. They also said that it would be $1,000 to $1,200. A little more than I was hoping for but oh well its just money, right. # # # I was surfing the net and found your site and saw the J10 on your site and was reminded of your listing on CL. Not only did I get the information needed I got an email from someone famous. Cool, and again thank you for your help. # # # Dave # # ----- Original Message ----- # From: "john" < fullsizejeeps -at- gmail .com> # Sent: Saturday, January 7, 2012 4:44:18 PM # Subject: Re: Jeep J10 pickup canopy # # All it says is Leer and Custom for Jeep.
