I've used it a half-dozen times and it's done the job every time. I just used a month ago to put coil-over springs in the 540i. I like the locking pins to keep the springs from flying off while you squeeze them. I'll be using it soon to put the lift coils in my Eagle wagon. I finally got the Grand Wagoneer 727 Trans in (Thanks to Bmax's help Wednesday ) and just need to finish buttoning it up. Wish I had a NP229 or NP228 to put in. I'd trade a NP208 for one. I have a lockup 998 (almost the same as 999 used in some 6 cyl '80 up FSJs) for core now. The converter neck snapped (common on OEM 9xx Trans) and puked it's fluid. > Date: Sat, 4 Feb 2012 09:55:36 -0800 > From: john-at-wagoneers.com > To: WJ-Grand-at-yahoogroups.com > Subject: fsj: Re: [WJ-Grand] Re: Bushings > > never had any trouble with my WJs... but then again I'd take stuff > like that to a front end shop, they have the tools, the lift and don't > charge outrageous amounts of money... > > > I'm going to need to replace the shocks on the jetta wagon... I called up Rockauto and Mike at customer service looked into to it and sent me a new ball joint at no charge even though the description was wrong. The joint arrived, was missing the nut, but the price was right! > # NOW that is great customer service!!! > # > # I get to examine why those recent control arm bushings failed by comparing the arms. Maybe I had them orientated wrong, or they were just cheap. I can always repair my old arm with new bushings too keeping it as a spare! > # > # later, > # dave AKA vwdoc1 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Feb 2012 23:36:24 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: sunny weekend - cut up knuckles Saturday was very nice... worked on the Jettas and an XJ that had a stuck tailgate, got the tailgate open, but had to drop the hitch. http://wagoneers.com/XJ/tech/XJ-tailgate-not-opening-1997/ http://wagoneers.com/XJ/tech/XJ-tailgate-not-opening-1997/ALL.html Had to order the part, around $100... the latch wasn't releasing, we cleaned it up but didn't want to risk reassembling and having it stick again. Likely not. The internet is wrong about being able to get that plastic cover off from the inside enough to open it. Just those two nuts holding that thing in...
