I just found out the NPR uses an AW4 variant (heavier duty version) '99 and newer. I wonder if the bell pattern is the same as the earlier 3.9L diesel? Those are available at a reasonable price. > Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2012 19:23:31 -0800 > From: john-at-wagoneers.com > To: carnuck-at-yahoo.com > CC: fsj-at-digest.net; xj-at-digest.net; diesel-benz-at-digest.net; CJ-10List-at-yahoogroups.com; WJ-Grand-at-yahoogroups.com > Subject: fsj: Re: Isuzu swap > > wow. > > http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/photo_1.html > > > > ----- > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all - please reply to: john-at-wagoneers.com > Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS > http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > On Fri, 17 Feb 2012, Jim Blair wrote: > > # http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/ > # > # > # Sent from my iPhone > # ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Feb 2012 13:14:21 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: snohomish fleet... I think she's finally made up her mind... we had someone coming to look at the '02 Jetta today... but my wife was helping me clean it up... and in the process decided she doesn't want to get rid of it now... so I've dropped the price on my '87 300D to $5500. Have over 8k into it. I think $5500 is painful, but more realistic... going backwards isn't something I generally do... but this is my wife's car and she's got to feel right about it, and a lower mileage modern vehicle that I can work on that gets 10mpg more in town is just a better plan for her... both are beautiful cars... I really like the 300D, but I like the Jettas as well. tough decision... really is... I'm sure the jetta will be a reliable vehicle for my wife for many years. And I'm prepared to completely rebuild my Jetta wagon if anything breaks... :) hopefully it won't come to that. I love the practicality of the wagon... the benz is a great car, it really is... lots of very good things about it... but I just like the little ragged, worn out jetta wagon more... y'all know I'm nuts anyways... in other news, waiting for an FSJ engine wiring harness from zach, decided to try his out, he gave me a little break on price in exchange for an article... He made a good argument to not bypass the amp gauge, and that his harness will reduce the risk... so I'll install it... but have the other article ready for those that want to bypass... also will show how to make your own... What made me decide to spend the money is I have no idea what the PO's did to my J10... I know I'd spend more than 2 hrs tracing and making it right... so I figured I'd just pay him for the right thing instead of taking the time... it really is a wash on cost and his harness sounds like it's top quality... Time v. Money... net result is the right solution... and, looking through some old mercedes tech info I had on my site, I found an interesting way of improving lights on what must be a 123, will see if it'll work on my J10... I didn't get zach's headlight harness as it doesn't put a relay in the circuit, keeps things stock... while better than stock, it's not the best solution, unless you're creating a concourse show quality FSJ... good luck with that if you are. ;) heading back out to work on my jetta... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all - please reply to: john-at-wagoneers.com Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Feb 2012 17:10:41 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: murphy someone please invite murphy over... having a miserable time doing really simple stuff today... :) took me a long time to replace a door latch... and I have extra parts now... not good... going to get something to eat, that'll give him time to get over to your place... fake him out, bring a tool box out by your vehicle, open it up... that should be enough, will be back shortly and try to finish what I started. :) thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all - please reply to: john-at-wagoneers.com Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Feb 2012 19:19:29 -0600 From: Ken Gaines Subject: Re: fsj: murphy He already came down to Shreveport. You should be safe now. I was trying to finish the front bumper for my JK (aka BIGJEEP) and it started raining. Electric tools like a Dewalt sawzall and 220VAC MIG welder probably wouldn't play real nicely in a driving rain storm...crap...
