If the vacuum line to the modulator comes unhooked (usually right near the modulator, due to the hose swelling from the ATF leaking from the cooling lines right near it), it will stay in first gear. It will also do this if the governor freezes up (AMHIK). If it does move in L, S or D, I suspect that the transmission's clutches and seals are fine and that the problem lies with something that is cheap and easy to fix. >Oh ya. It is 800 bucks.
