The Microsoft carriage return may find its way into a file if it was FTP's in the
binary mode, or if copied in some other way that did not convert it from the MS format 
to a newline used by UNIX.  When editing a file in Linux or UNIX you'll see an "^M".


to remove the  microsoft carriage return:

	 tr -d '\015' < original.file > new.file

OR, use:

	perl -pi -e 's/\015//g' file
