Anyone have a newer model turbo Diesel? I'm wondering at what model year do used versions become affordable and what kind of mileage and performance they get. y'all are pretty quiet on the list... john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html jesus, don't leave life without him, please! I've probably asked this question to the list a time or two already... still debating and taking a survey between diesel-benz and alt.mercedes.auto... Bilstein-Kroegers, or KYBs? I've also heard Boge tossed around, but know nothing about them, not even price... I've got an '80 240d which will soon be back on the road, and I really want to keep it that way... I've heard from a shop in Fort Worth, TX that's been working on MBs (including an '83 300TD, recently) and using KYBs for 25 years, the owner says... says they're reliable, feel good and they're half the $$$ of Bilsteins.... I've also heard that if it puts me in DEBT (even further, ha ha) that I should opt for Bilsteins. So let's put it to a vote... ______________________________________________ Matthew J. I wish it had a bit more power. (I can just hear the guys with the 240d's groaning... :) I checked on the 85 300 Turbo Diesel engine and trans pricing. about $1750 for the motor complete and $775 for the tranny. let's see, that's $2525... I wonder if I couldn't buy a totaled 85 300 Turbo Diesel for that... What would an 85 go for if it was in good shape? Maybe I should just shop for a nice clean one and sell/trade Fritz. BTW, what's the follow on body style to the 123 Series 300D? Any thoughts? john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html jesus, don't leave life without him, please!
